Sleep training

FTM - curious if sleep training is specifically meant to get them to sleep through the night, or if it’s more on being able to put them down drowsy but awake… our LO goes down OK for the most part at night and for naps, but is still waking constantly at night and I’m having to feed her. I’ve been trying to switch to feeding more throughout the day so she gets all her calories, but it’s not always successful and I feel like we end up reverting back to too many night feeds. Any suggestions appreciated!! I know she’s also going through a sleep regression right now as she’s been waking up at 4:30/5 rather than the normal 7/7:30 and her naps are changing. I’m so tired 😴

We followed wellrestedweeones on Instagram. I followed all her tips available on her blog religiously and now our baby sleeps through the night. She goes to bed at 8pm and wakes at 7.30 am. No night feeds.

Hard call. My daughter woke up once a night until she was one. She napped by being placed in her crib and fell asleep. At bedtime we snuggled in a rocker and sang or read a story. She kicked it herself. That being said she's always been the type to get up at 6am no matter what. Meanwhile my son wakes up once or twice before 4 am and sometimes sleeps until 9 am and other times until 7.

One thing is that I don’t believe in “they seek to fall back asleep the same way they were put down to sleep” BS. At least for my baby it doesn’t work. I put her down awake for bed time and nap times. she puts herself to sleep yet she still needs to nurse to fall back asleep when she wakes up throughout the night.
