Travelling with 4 month old

Hi, we are going to Croatia in May and our little girl will be 4 months old. I’m starting to put a list together of what we need to take and was hoping someone could answer the following: - transfer from airport to hotel is by coach - will baby just be able to sit on one of our laps? - We are flying with Tui - can see baby gets 10kg hold luggage but no hand luggage. Does that mean we cannot take a pram with us? Also if we do take a pram, she would need a bassinet as cannot hold head up yet? It’s quite chunky so wondering if it’s ok to take? I can check this on Tui but thought I’d ask in case anyone knows. - What do you put baby to lay in when you’re around the pool? At home she has her Moses basket but we aren’t going to be taking that. Do you take anything? (I know we won’t get much sunbathing done, just if she needs to nap 😂). Any other tips anyone could share would be really helpful xx

I’m in Portugal now with my 4.5 month old!!! In the day I’ve been putting him in SPF SWIM wear, I wish I bought more with long sleeves and legs. We took our big pram (it wasn’t the bassinet it was the stroller part but they fold down the same size) with us for free with Ryan air (also throw all your nappies in with the pram save luggage space) nappies I didn’t bother bringing any out I just slipped to the supermarket and grabbed some, turned out they had the exact same ones we use anyway I’ve seen you can by Moses baskets that fold up! Also I’m not sure how much protection the big pool umbrella give so I made sure he was under two .. sounds a bit mental but didn’t want to risk him burning! You’ll be surprised how much sunbathing you’ll get done ☀️ ✈️ If you’ve got any questions just drop me a message 😊😊😊 https://www.amazon.co.uk/shop/snoozeshade/pages/buy-snoozeshade-from-amazon?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_aipsfshop_aipsfsnoozeshade_EXMMRWE4V95D

@Sophie thank you so much, that’s really helpful! Good tip about the nappies, we are using Aldi mamia ones, they usually have an aldis overseas don’t they 😂 but will check! Thank you, will look at the Moses baskets and the snooze shade! Hope you’re having a lovely time x

Yeah they always have an Aldi, not too far away! Just saves alot of hassle of getting stuff in cases! The hardest thing I found is keeping him out the sun and protected!! So just buy as much spf stuff as you can I think you can even buy blankets now 🤣 and a fan (mine wraps around the pram! Have a lush time!! We are having a lovely time, I’ve noticed he’s hitting so many milestones since being away, I think it’s great for them and it’s amazing memories for us as well!! So you’ll have an amazing time xxxx

I thought it was 10kg hand luggage. Not any hold luggage. We are flying with tui in 40 days with our 3.5 month old. I'm taking a bassinet as she won't be sitting up in her seat yet as they don't recommend that for 6 months. Not sure how we are going to do it whether I'll buy a bag to transport it or fold it down and put it in the luggage 🤔 xx

Depending what airport you’re flying from you can order baby supplies to the airport, or just get them once abroad, Croatia will have everything you need. If you’re formula feeding you’ll need to take your formula but can order that to the airport otherwise ❤️ We took our sleepyhead to our baby in at the beach and anyway that wasn’t the house. But in the end we used a mini inflatable boat at the beach (I’ll add a photo). If you take the bassinet that will suit too. I’d recommend getting a baby fan for the pram too. Xx

I just had another thought 💡 worth looking to see if there are any baby rental equipment companies where you are going most of them will drop the stuff to you.. you can literally rent anything!!!! Cots / prams / baths / baby seats literally everything xxx

Take calpol and baby nurofen and a thermometer can be hard to get abroad

@Sophie yes I’ve heard about those blankets! I’ve ordered a fan today for the buggy and going to get her a little float thing with a canopy over it for the pool. Aw that’s so lovely 🥰 pleased you’re having a nice time xxx

@Demi our email confirmation says baby gets 10kg hold luggage. The 10kg hang luggage is for the parents I believe 🤷🏼‍♀️. Thank you, I didn’t think to look at the travelling with infants bit! Just had a look and it says to take pram it needs to be able to completely foldable. We’d planned to take the bassinet too so not sure if we can? I may give them a call xx

@Danielle thank you, just ordered a pram fan. Yes that’s a good idea about ordering things in - will def do that with the formula! Have you taken a bassinet with Tui before? I just read and it says to take pram it needs to be completely foldable? Xx

@Danielle cute 🥰 x

@Sophie oh good idea, wil def have a look, thanks! Xx

@Aimee ah hadn’t even thought of that! 🤦🏼‍♀️ added to the list, thank you x

@Katie I’ve never taken a bassinet as we took the car seat & our little pram which folds in one so we could have it round the airport to throw our hand luggage in. Also 100% pop them in a sling for round the airport much easier & safer for boarding too. It’s also good for restaurants when abroad. As someone has said about medicine I’d recommend getting the sachets as you can take them all on the plane (5ml per sachet) they also last a much longer time than the bottle xx
