I did not, but I know many mothers whose kids did. Always keep tylenol and a thermometer on hand. While the majority of kids are fine- it is TERRIFYING to watch…and if they have one they are likely to have another. All of the babies I knew who had them are happy preschoolers, doing fine. Consult with a pediatrician! They earned those medical degrees to keep your kid safe and healthy!

Yes my son had one in January. I was out of town and he was home with my husband and it was so scary! It ended up being caused by an ear infection & the doctor said it’s possible it will never happen again and we just need to keep an eye on his temp when he gets sick. It doesn’t do any damage neurologically it is more of a body seizure because their temp spiked too high too fast.

I have a child with full on epilepsy and another that has febrile seizures. Always keep a thermometer and Tylenol in hand but make sure to go to hospital if your child has 3 or more. My 2nd daughter (16 months) the one with febrile seizures had to do an overnight stay back in late January but didn’t have anymore after the 3 that she had. They told me it will most likely never happen again. If you are worried you can go after the first one and they will be so helpful. It doesn’t do anything damaging neurologically unless they are 30 minutes or longer. Just make sure to switch between Tylenol and ibuprofen every 4 hours to keep the fever down.

My daughter has had 2 the first lasting 7ish mins and the second lasting 18 mins. It’s terrifying. Hers were 2.5 months apart. The first one they have no clue what caused it and the second she had the flu. Everything we’ve been told is that it is all how quick their temp rises and not so much the temp. After the second one our Dr gave us some meds to help stop the seizure after 5mins if she has another. Anytime we see a temp rise in the 99’s we give meds. Then continue to watch. If it doesn’t go down within 10-15 mins we are dumping her in a Luke warm bath!

Thank God my little one did not experience any seizures when she ran a fever of 104-105 for a couple of days. However, her doctor suggested giving Baby Motrin instead of Tylenol because it works better to bring down fevers. So I went out and bought some and it worked to bring down the fever.
