Smoking pot /taking THC until 14 weeks?

I'm curious if anyone knows resources on smoking pot during pregnancy. I read somewhere the fetus doesn't develop thc receptors until 14 weeks. But it can stay in maternal fat cells for a month or so. So my thought is to cut back on smoking but still take gummies and edibles until week 10. I'm not addicted and could stop but it helps make chores easier and more fun to do. What are your thoughts, opinions, or resources? Please feel free to voice your true opinion! I know this is a controversial topic and I want all the perspectives šŸ‘

I cut down on smoking throughout my pregnancy but still smoked occasionally. just didn't get stoned. I hate edibles so that wasn't an option for me. my Dr knew I smoked and a nurse told me it's not great to use THC while pregnant but it's not as bad as it is while breastfeeding. my LO is almost 7 months now and I do still smoke a little here and there but I drink hella water to try and filter it out sooner. since I'm not smoking every day, it theoretically is out of my breast milk within a week or so.

Edibles are the only thing that make me feel halfway decent. Pretty sure the research says there's no safe amount but also has not come up with any concrete negatives

At least main stream research

Hey! Feel free to DM me šŸ˜Š not gonna judge you. I can tell u about my brief use of 420 during my pregnancy

^ Iā€™m a research analyst who recently did a big project on cannabis for a major consumer goods manufacturer, and I directly reviewed some of the research mentioned in the CDC article, and more. Iā€™ll echo that cannabis use during pregnancy can cause long-term health problems for your baby.

@Katie Hey, could you talk more about this to me in DM. I have questions šŸ˜Š

As a researcher Iā€™ll just say this is the kind of thing thatā€™s hard to gather data on since most people arenā€™t going to volunteer to Use cannabis while they are pregnant to serve as test subjects and also since itā€™s not legal many places itā€™s going to be hard to gather reliable data. Since so little is known I would err on the side of caution, Especially since you are just using it to make chores less Boring rather than a real medical use.

I used to smoke for many years for the same reasons you do. Habit and it made things more enjoyable. But since I took that pregnancy test I stopped because why not be safe than sorry? Surprisingly, I don't miss it even though I'm sure it would make nausea easier. I just have some ginger, not too much though, and it does the trick. It's easier for me to handle this experience knowing I'm doing everything in my power to grow the baby as best as possible. Personally, the guilt and anxiety wouldn't make it enjoyable anymore anyway.

Just going to echo that it doesn't feel worth it to me since there is some decent research showing evidence of risk of real harm to the fetus/baby. If it's just a small benefit to you then it definitely doesn't seem worth a health risk, if someone feels like they really need it to function I think it'd be best to talk to their doctor about whether or not there is some other option that could help them instead (like therapy or a medication that's been shown to be safe during pregnancy)

@Katie I don't think there's actually any research proving it to cause health problems to babies

@Rose Iā€™d recommend reviewing these sources. There isnā€™t enough research on this topicā€”no IRB is going to approve a double blind placebo controlled study on thisā€”but the work that has been done so far suggests some not-so-great outcomes. 1 National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Interesting, Iā€™ve always wondered this too and also the effects once youā€™ve had baby. Does THC affect breast milk in the same way alcohol does? šŸ¤”

I definitely miss weed but, given the (limited) info out there, I donā€™t feel it is worth the risk. That said, if my nausea was really bad or I had HG I would probably use it occasionally as a treatment. So far Iā€™ve been toughing it out which sucks šŸ˜
