Yeah, they are scary because you automatically compare yourself to everyone else. Initially I was devastated with my first result & then when I thought about it I realized the odds were in my favour. It was nice to have the NIPT results tell me that I was in fact low chance 🙂. If you need extra reassurance, you could call: https://www.arc-uk.org They we’re super helpful in explaining my result to me and I felt alot more confident things would be fine after 🙂 x
It came through on my letter, I kind of wish I just knew it was low. The numbers freak me out
How have you all got numbers all i got was a letter saying low risk?
Yeah you're right @Nicky I think it's my brain finding the one lil thing to cling worry to.
Try not to worry. Mine came back as increased chance for downs (1 in 81), so I was offered NIPT and the results came back as low chance. It’s really unlikely that your baby has downs 💕
I received 1 in 790 and had the same thoughts, mainly due to comparison of other results way in the 1000s. We decided to pay for nipt yesterday for a bit of reassurance x
You could get a private NIPT test ordered online if you're really worried? Though I think they're a bit dear at £299, so not accessible for everyone. But if I were you, I'm so anxious by default I probably would be right there in your shoes now just the same. My test came back something like 1 in 40,000. It's insane how large the spectrum can be for low-risk? Who decided on that number how? At the same time, a lot of folk get a higher risk than yours and end up with a perfectly healthy baby. Anyway I think your feelings are valid, maybe the private NIPT is something to consider.
