Hey girl💖 I had a water birth at St Thomas and had such an amazing experience! I arrived at like 3am with contractions and then had a sweep, was told I was 4cm dilated so had to stay in and get things started. I was put in the home from home suite not long after. I had 2 different midwives because they had changed shifts but they were both so lovely🥰 I didn't know you aren't allowed gas and air in the water so I was nervous, but the water helped soooo much with the pain. Honestly really recommend St Thomas'. Good luck💕

@Bee thanks so much for your detailed response💕I’ve heard really good things about water births however this is the first instance where I’m hearing you weren’t allowed gas & air in the water!! That’s quite worrying for me as gas & air is usually one of the only pain reliefs available to you on hand😭definitely going to have to ask my midwife if this is the case in all circumstances because I’m really relying on gas & air to get me through my labour and i’ll be reluctant to have a water birth if I can’t have gas & air whilst doing it!

I gave birth at St Thomas last year, not actually in the water but on a bean bag next to the pool. I was in the pool for about 4 hours (all a bit of a blur to be honest) and I was definitely allowed gas and air. Second that the midwives there were so lovely, I also had a shift change and was worried the second shift wouldn’t be as good but they made the entire experience so amazing!

my experience was nearly 14 years ogo with Tommy's I didn't make it in to the pool but gave bith in there on sweet bath omg such a an amazing birth compared to my 2 induction I arrived I was 6 cm so I got strght in the bath n the ran the pool by the time pool was ready o was crowning so I could move but so amazing I'm due my 4th baby in 11 weeks n want another water birth on thing is I'm going georges

I had at guys and St Thomas to. The experience wasn't so bad, but I had a emergency C-section. The recovery was pretty easy so I'm not going to say that i had a bad experience

Hey hun I had a water birth at st Thomas’s and it was amazing. The midwives were brilliant in the end I had to end up getting out because of other reasons. I had gas and air in the water that’s the only pain relief you can have in the water. But overall they were brilliant I don’t have one negative word to say and there care was so attentive after as well xx
