Lamotrigine increase

Hi ladies! So I’ve had an appointment with my epilepsy nurse yesterday who’s told me my lamotrigine levels have dropped and need to urgently increase my meds. I had terrible side effects last time I weaned up so worried I’m going to feel awful with the sudden increase 🥹 Anyone else had to increase while pregnant? How did you find it?

My epilepsy nurse is rubbish so my lamotrigine levels didn't get checked the whole way through thankfully I didn't have any seizures but I wish I got checked for my peace of mind. Didn't even realise they were meant to be checked until the end of my pregnancy. They will be keeping a close eye on you so any side effects just phone them straight away if you are worried

I've just had a message from my midwife saying that my lamotrigine levels are 0.7 when normal levels are 3-15!! It has made me super worried but I have a neurologist appointment on Monday to see what I can do. Very anxious as its a new neurologist and I'm worried increases will affect the baby. Currently I'm 9 weeks.

@Hannah aww bless you. I’m sorry to hear! They told me increase won’t effect the baby. Lamotrigine is the safest medication to be on! My little man’s still been wiggling around in there and seems happy! Baby might be a bit drowsy when they’re born but it’s a very low chance of anything being wrong. Hope everything goes well for you lovely! Xx
