Debt

I know this is nothing to do with babies but I just need a rant. But is anyone else is so much debt, that they are constantly up at night wondering how they are going to pay it off? I’m a single mum, and firstly make sure my daughter has everything she needs, but it literally leaves me with about £20 spare a month after rent, bills etc. and with interest my debt just seems to be getting higher and higher. I honestly just don’t know what to do anymore. I just want to find a way to pay it off, I even went back to work early of maternity leave but due to childcare I can’t work more than 2 days a week. But all I want to do is clear my debt off as soon as possible but at this rate it’s going to take me years to pay it off.

Call National Debtline. It’s free impartial debt advice, they’re a charity.

Could you create a community with other single moms and take it in turns to look after each other's kids for free and take up extra shifts then? Avoid IVA if you can as makes getting a mortgage or car loan very difficult. Even if you're not in a position to do those things now imagine how you would feel in a few years if you could afford more but an IVA was stopping you! Also any chance of finding time to do a course or something online that could help you get a higher rate of pay? Might take a bit of time but every little helps. I hope you find some respite sounds stressful but you got this. 💕

I don't recommend an IVA, talk to StepChange, there's tons of affordability support, especially for a single parent. An IVA will destroy your credit rating for years and could put you in more debt longer term.

Have u considered an IVA at all to help u. Maybe speak to CAP as well they are a great charity, x

No real advice here but I 100% feel you. In a massive amount of debt and came back from maternity almost immediately. I'm forever taking cash out on one credit card to pay another off. Being able to afford to just live is exhausting.
