On the fence?

Is anyone else on the fence about having no2 and feel time is running out? I'm so confused on what to do. I'd love another baby and my husband said he fully supports my decision either way. We have one boy who is 19 months. I was lucky and had an easy pregnancy. Birth was a bit different and so was the the healing process that I guess I'm a little traumatised. I'm also 40 next month and don't want to be old 🤣 I guess my big question is, in the public system do you get much of a say on how you give birth? I have a GP appointment tomorrow to discuss all of this and other issues. Anyone in the same situation? Sorry for the novel and thank you if you have read this far ❤️

I would do it again and not regretting the first or second one at all. My kids are 23 months apart. The first one cost $15k to give birth, second $6k. First was emergency C-section, 33 hours pain labour and had to be induced and poke out. And The second one was elective csection. Had horrible pregnancy both time, rushed to ER, sent for observation, admitted to hospital for iron infusion, etc. But doesn’t really matter. I have two girls that are amazing. The question is do I want the 3rd one? 😂

I had my first at 39 yrs old and he is now 19mths. I knew I wanted a sibling for him and that time could be running out due to my age. So we started trying early and I fell pregnant when he was 8mths. I now have a 4mth old daughter at 41yrs. The public system from my understanding is they really push vaginal delivery and will only go down the c- section route if there is complications. Another option could be going private but through the public hospital. I did that for my 2nd and had an OB and had a choice over my pregnancy and birth and had no out of pocket expenses. Good luck with it all Mumma :)

@Kristen Thank you for sharing. May I ask how you organised an OB through the public system? I'm a bit nervous about it all and what to do ❤️

I’m in my tww ttc #2! I say go for it

@Bec sure :) I researched what OBs consulted and delivered at the public hospital. Then I contacted the private consulting rooms at the hospital and arranged an appt. My private health insurance covered everything being I had gone to a public hospital. Had I gone to a private hospital with the same OB I would have paid 5-8k out of pocket. I'd research your local hospital to find out what OBs deliver there or ask your GP if they know Best of luck :)

@Kristen Thank you. I appreciate the info ❤️

I gave birth in the public shstem at the northern hospital and I got zero say on how I gave birth. I even tried to ask the midwife what would happen if I had a c section and she blocked her ears and said we don't talk about that. They also didn't offer a bath, discuss music or lighting, etc. In the end I had an emergency c section anyway so the birth plan went out the window! 😂🤣
