Move
Good morning ladies! There is a good chance my husband will be getting a decent job offer in Asheville in the next 2 or 3 months. If he does, we will move there later this year. So I figured I should scope everything out ahead of time in case he does get the job. We currently have a 13 month old girl and 3 month old girl. I'm a SAHM, so we have no intention of putting the girls in daycare. Even though his job will be in Asheville, We plan to live 20 to 30 minutes outside of Asheville so we can (hopefully) find a decent sized house that won't be as costly if we were to get it in Asheville. I don't like the inconvenience of a longer commute that will come with it but I agree with my husband that it will be better for saving $. So with that being said, what towns outside of Asheville are good for family living? And what is everything in general I need to know about Asheville? My husband and I have visited Asheville twice when we still lived in Spartanburg, SC, but that was when we just visited for fun. Best schools, pediatricians, dentists, eye doctors, vets, parks, places for kids to play, walking trails, festivals, social events, etc.
My husband and I just bought a house in Fletcher and are loving it so far! Housing was more affordable down here and while there isn't much to do in Fletcher itself you can get to both south Asheville and Hendersonville in about 20 minutes. We love the neighborhood we're in and there are two really nice parks with playgrounds, tennis courts and walking trails within about a 10 minute drive (Bill Moore Park and Mills River Park) I know a lot of people end up buying in Weaverville too and love it so that might be worth checking out too! They also seem to have some of the best rated schools I've seen in the area. I'm currently looking for a pediatrician too and have heard good things about ABC pediatrics. Hope everything goes well with your move if your husband ends up taking the job!
