Travelling abroad with SMA Althera

My little boy has just been prescribed SMA Althera. Does anyone have any advice / stories of travelling abroad on a plane with this? We go at the end of April and I was planning on taking pre made bottles of formula but obviously I can’t do that now and I’m stressing!

We are currently in Cyprus with our little one who is on neocate, we preboiled and measured the water out for the journey into her baby bottles and too the rechargeable Tommy tippie warmer in our hand luggage along with a ton of formula in her bag, security just test the water to make sure it is what your saying but we had no trouble at all, as long as you don’t have more than 1L total water they are fine😊

I’ve travelled many times with formula. There is not restriction on amount and you can also bring water for preparation. They just do a quick swab of the outside of the container. At least that has been my experience in the States. You can always call the airport you are flying out of and ask them what their restrictions are for overseas travel. Generally they won’t deny it since it is your child’s main source of nutrition.

@Sacha what did you do about the hot shot water that needs to be a certain degrees to kill the bacteria? This is what’s stressing me out! X

I havent been with my LG but if you have a nuby rapid cool you can take flasks of boiled water and use the rapid cool and do the hot shot method with that

@Emma-louise I wasn’t sure we could take a flask through security as this was my initial plan?!

@Charlotte I'd definitely ring them to double check but I'm sure they should allow it as they would just check that it's just water inside As I said I havent been abroad with a baby so I can't be sure As the issue is I believe the formulas only last 4 hours out of the fridge before baby drinks them (I know neocate does) so that doesn't give long enough without a flask of jot water

We travelled with althera. Just took each portion of powder in mini pots, and took 2 bottles - hot water and the boiled cooled water and then prepared the bottles as we needed

@Hasina what did you put the hot water in?
