Also just to add I've heard some pretty rubbish things about Bmth and Dorch too! I really think some of the negative reviews would have been the same/similar unfortunate outcomes wherever they went. 🙁 Try to focus on your own experience and ignore all the noise. 💙
during my pregnancy, from 30 weeks my care went down considerably. i had intrahepatic cholostasis which i was meant to have weekly monitoring for. they didnt even put it on my notes until 36 weeks and so i wasn't properly treated until then and i can guarantee had it been properly monitored, my baby would have been born earlier than the 12th march (he was due on the 14th) i wasnt given any vaccines during my pregnancy either. i didn't realise until it was too late due to personal distraction but it was never even offered or brought up. However. The negatives aside, i had a C-section and the care during that was amazing! i had pregnancy induced tachycardia and so i was monitored closely before, during and after. The staff were very patient. They also caught my sons hole in his heart the day after he was born and were straight on it! As well as very attentive to an infection i have from my C-section scar. it was a very 50/50 experience for me 😊
Ive had 3 babies in poole. My son is 12 this year and was probably my worst experience but so much has changed since then. My second i was well looked after, they saved me from having to go to emergency surgery after birth. My third the care was so lovely, and when I had to go back in 4 days later for a blood transfusion they were once again just so lovely. I honestly cannot rate the midwives highly enough at Poole. Even after in post natal ward ive heard stories of nurses wakingnyou up to do observations etc but myself, partner and babe all fel asleep and we were left to sleep peacefully until we woke and then they did all checks needed etc. No pushy midwives/nurses. No stress. Just left in our own little bubble with baby 🥰
I had my baby girl in Poole and the staff was amazing I carnt fault them. They looked after me and my baby girl so well when she was in nicu . And looked after us both when we were together . They are amazing g and very caring .
Every birth experience is so different🫶 I had my second at Poole on the haven in 2022 and it was lovely. If you are feeling apprehensive you can always look into birth preparation, this opens up pathways including place of birth so that you can navigate your birth experience confidently 🤍✨
Delayed reply sorry as only just joined this page but just wanted to say I had my little girl at Poole 10 weeks ago and the care I received was outstanding. I was in for a few days as induced and I can’t fault them at all. The induction process was really smooth, the midwives with me during labour were supportive and experienced, I needed emergency surgery after giving birth and they responded incredibly quickly (and ensured my husband and baby were looked after whilst I was in surgery), and we were kept in 4 days and the midwives were exceptional - nothing was too much trouble, the helped with everything and always friendly and happy despite being run off their feet! We’ve had to go back since for checks for baby and again the NICU staff have always been amazing too. I had heard mixed things about Poole beforehand but honestly my experience didn’t reflect any of the negative things I’d heard!
@Louise the postnatal care i received was amazing but the prenatal care was awful for me
@Ash I think I’m really fortunate that I had pretty good care the whole journey (apart from one consultant who was a bit abrupt!) but I’m aware it’s not everyone’s experience, which is such a shame as really should be consistent for everyone. Glad your postnatal care was good though and hope you and little one are ok!
@Lara 🙌🏻 will have a read in a bit x
I received really good care whilst I was there. Birth didn’t go to plan but I could not fault the team there. Lovely people, just understaffed and overstretched! Like everywhere x
I just gave birth two days ago in poole. Care I received was amazing they managed to avoid an emergency c section when things were starting to take a turn, used other methods to get it back under control whilst keeping both me and baby safe. They had already prepared for my usual heavy bleeding and complications, and their interventions meant I could go home the same day. I went through a few staff changes as was a 12 hour ordeal but the midwife who discharged us was the first midwife I had in delivery suite, she saw our names and wanted to be the one to say goodbye and see us off happy with babe. They really do care about their patients and the student midwives go above and beyond - my daughter was the student midwife's first delivery 🥰. Also i was able to labour how i wanted - even on a drip&baby being monitored they did it wireless so I could walk, sit, bounce etc. Room was dimmed with beautiful projector lights on ceiling.
@Lara 🙌🏻 obviously I know this. But Im speaking on my own personal experiences. I went through 6 different midwives over my 12 hour induction and all of them were different in their techniques, but professional, caring, brought my baby into the world safely and made sure I was well looked after to avoid haemorrhaging again
I have had 2 babies in Poole and due to have a 3rd any day now. The care I received throughout antenatal and delivery has been wonderful. The staff are so kind and thoughtful. The post labour ward is a little 🥴 but realistically you're not there for long so doesn't really affect my overall experience.
