Driving anxiety

Hello everyone I am mother to 11 months old and soon we are planning to send my son to day care. I don’t drive yet and had a crippling anxiety about driving. Any tips on getting over that. Does anyone who is in the same boat? Looking for some advices who can relate. Thanks

Sounds like me! I have my G2 license but have literally not driven since I took the test. I need to get my G by the end of the summer or I lose my license and need to start all over again. Thinking of driving gives me such anxiety, especially thinking of my little one being in the car. I know I'm a good driver but I dont trust everyone else on the road lol

@Taylor Right. That’s what gives me anxiety. I have some bad experiences with reckless drivers while learning

Same boat here, I got 2 kids my beginners and just need road practice to get my fulls! I do just fine with just me in the vehicle in a small town, but we're in the big city and I'm so anxious it's ridiculous. What I plan on doing is trying to keep to the side streets as much as possible and only go on the major/main roads when absolutely necessary.

Ya its terrifying. But I know how much easier and better things will be once I have a car and am able to drive anywhere. My partner also doesn't drive and not having a vehicle with a baby is not ideal. As scary as it is, I know I gotta do it. If not for me, for baby girl.

I have the mirror thing too. As for driving maybe when you get the license do short practice drives and increase confidence, don't expect too much too fast

Mine is a camera not a mirror. It's like a GPS screen that mounts to your dash and the camera mounts to the back of the seat

I used to be in the exact same scenario. The 401 used to give me serious heart palpitations. If you are in Toronto, Immanuel driving school is the best driving instructor. I am a former studet of his.

I used to have a lot of driving anxiety, like full panic attacks. the key is driving regularly. I still have some anxiety if I drive new places but at least on my regular routes to work stores etc i actually now find driving quite relaxing for the most part. The more experience you get the more you can trust that you will do the right thing in different situations. I would recommend getting as much practice as you can without your LO in the car first because the anxiety of trying to keep your baby safe is a whole other level
