Anti reflux formula

Can someone please recommend me an anti reflux formula that works. My little girl is so sick from reflux. She is EBF for the moment with expressed breast milk. This 3 weeks is the worst she has ever been. She vomits all the time her meals, has diarrhea, refuses her feeds, cries from pain. Is so difficult seeing her like that 😓😓. She was prescribed gaviscon, worked for some time and than it didn’t work anymore, she was refusing feeds and having explosive diarrhea. After that she was prescribed omeprazole, she accepts her feeds but vomits a lot. I have tried burping, pace feeding, holding her 30 minutes after feeds, gripe water and nothing works 😔. GP said is not CMPA because she does not have blood on her stool. I am feeling so hopeless and they don’t help much, have left me waiting for weeks to have an appointment with a paedritician. Can someone please help me as well recommend any good paedritician. It is such a difficult situation and painful and seems like never ending 😓😓

SMA Anti reflux is good. However, that does sound like a CMPA or CMPI as she’s got the symptoms. You don’t have to have all the symptoms to have it. Get her to another doctors and get their opinion because it definitely sounds like it x

@Julia thank you. How can I test it to understand if she has CMPA. Can you recommend me please any paediatrician?

We use aptamil anti reflux formula

@Imelda SMA has a lacto free formula but I would ask a doctor to prescribe you a hypoallergenic formula, such as neocate or something similar. And I’m afraid I can’t as the hospital provided us with one after being admitted due to continuous vomiting. Is she gaining weight? As that’s also a sigh of a CMPA.

@Julia she was gaining weight 2 weeks ago. But this past 2 weeks have been so difficult with diarrhea and vomiting, and I am weighing her on Tuesday to check

@Imelda Take her to another doctor and get a second opinion as a lot of GP doctors aren’t clued up on CMPA and ask for a referral to a paediatrician or get in touch with your health visitor as she may be able to help with a referral x

We use cow and gate anti reflux

My baby girl was exactly like this and no one helped at all:( it can be so stressful and worrying when they are being sick constantly because you feel so helpless it’s horrible:( I spoke to health visitors and people that help with feeding etc and it felt like they just ignored me so I just put her onto anti reflux milk and it honestly helped so much as soon as I moved her onto the Cow&gate reflux milk she started drinking so much more and didn’t get uncomfortable and cry after a bottle, before when she was on normal milk she was only having 4oz bottles and she didn’t even finish them and she wasn’t really putting on weight because she was so tiny and as soon as I moved on onto the reflux milk she started having 7oz bottles I was so shocked! so honestly do what you feel is best which I know isn’t always right to do but at least give it a try. Hopefully that gives you some reassurance and helps a little bit x

@Sophie thank you so much, it is reassuring. Today I am going to start her on formula. My baby as well has 4 oz bottles and sometimes she won’t even finish them. And not even my husband doesn’t take me seriously saying all the kids are like this is normal. And no one helps from healthcare professionals, yesterday when I asked to be referred to a pediatrician they said we can only offer you a visit to the gp, if you are unhappy with the gp why do you even call 😒. My little girl is tiny as well 😔😔. Hopefully the anti formula milk will work for her

Could you try going dairy free or purchase cmpa formula? Its available on online pharmacies, your local pharmacy may have it too but usually they have to order it in n most only do it on prescription as the nice guidelines are only under medical supervision (i guess as it’s allergy related), if you get the bounty app they have a free trial of bounty + which comes with free access to tapgp ( a private gp service) which i find actually listen to me and are happy to offer the cure im after. I find it soooo stupid certain doctors tend to run off the but they dont have that symptom line..in what world does any illness/allergy or anything at all present the same way with every single symptom in every sufferer?? When i had battles over thrush prescription for my baby as she wouldnt feed bc of it i accepted the gp appointment n refused to leave until they could provide me with a treatment and it didn’t take them long to realise i wasnt wrong n i left prescription in hand!

I just bought anti reflux formula. Can I use them both? Or does it have to be only one of them? I don’t really understand what is happening because baby seems to have reflux and colic the same time. So difficult to understand and gp is not helping

I’d say you’d use one at a time as reflux formula is usually still cows milk protein based, trial the reflux formula first n if you see no difference after a week or two or when tub ends (whichevers first) then you could move onto trying cmpa formula, if you do have to move onto cmpa formula you could do the same trial and if symptoms still there then trial adding detinox/infacol to see if the combination makes a difference. If you’re really stuck at any point bring her into a&e, i know a good few mums whove been in for the same as they couldnt find any solution n there they were offered other alternatives and referred for investigations into what was causing it, altho still as slow theyre usually quite happy to prescribe milk/other medications to see if they work in the meantime (which in my opinion is what your gp shouldve done!)

@Rhiannon thank you so much, I will try and see how it goes. Hopefully it works 🙏

@SidđŸŒč I started aptamil anti reflux formula and I am doing combo feeding with breastmilk as well. She doesn’t have anymore reflux but she is very constipated and has a lot of gas. Is stopping her to sleep and she cries and is in pain. I am thinking of starting her on kendamil comfort and today I have a visit with the paediatrician

How many feeds do you give her that’s formula? If you don’t mind me asking.. I was thinking of getting anti reflux formula but if not then maybe Kendamil comfort?

I’ve started her also on solids so I give 5 feeds per day and I combine them 3 formula feeds 2 breastmilk or 3 breastmilk and 2 formula feeds. Does your baby has the same thing?
