Smell like weed around kids?

Do you smoke and then after are you around your kids? My son is only 10 months so he obviously doesn’t understand what weed is and doesn’t know what the smell is. If your kids are older have they smelt the weed on you and is it a problem or how do you go about the smell?

I don’t think the smell is bad. For example the reason we don’t want cigarette smell around kids is because the 2nd hand smoke even on clothes is harsh chemicals! Our weed is not harsh chemicals. The smell can be pungent and offensive to some that do not like it. But I often find that the ones who find it offensive are the old school people who still associate it with street drugs. My brother owns a dispensary, he grows his own weed and I’m pretty sure he smokes it often. He explains to his kids (4 & 8) it’s medicine. So they think their dad has a medicine shop. They understand it helps people. They also know the pot plants are a medicinal plant. They also know that taking medicine that’s not yours can make you very sick or die. So they will not touch it or go near it same as they won’t go near someone’s medicine when they see it in a purse or a relatives drawer. (My mom does not store her meds in childproof cupboards but in her bedside drawer)

@Meg this is a perfect response

I think the only time you would have trouble is if the smell transfers from you onto baby and then say you take him to daycare and the daycare staff report you.

I use it not just to get high ( wish I still got the high feeling) but to help regulate me during the day vs pills. I smoke daily, not around her where she can see me smoking or anything. She's grown up knowing it as my medicine 🤷🏼‍♀️ she's 6 now. She knows not to touch any of my stuff. She smells it and says "gross, it smell like your medicine stuff." Lol as she gets older and happens to be curious, she's get an explanation suited for her age. Use a natural spray to cover the smell more if you're worried about just the smell aspect of it. You can get candles from the smoke shop that helps with smell as well.

I haven’t smoked since having my son, but when I do I will make sure to change my clothes before seeing/touching him. Third hand smoke is a thing, so it’s important for them to not come into contact with any clothing that was in the smoke. That will take care of most of the smell unless of course you smoke inside. When he’s older I’m not gonna be secretive about it, but I won’t want him or the inside of my house smelling like weed

@Carly what does third hand weed smoke do to a child? Genuinely curious. There’s no chemicals in weed like cigarettes where the third hand smoke’s chemicals are coating everything it touched. If there is then you’re smoking really bad weed. But genuinely curious what third hand weed smoke looks like and what affects it has!

@Meg any kind of smoke contains carcinogens, particulate matter, and carbon monoxide. The weed itself isn’t the issue, it’s the smoke that comes from burning it

If it makes you feel better I would put a cover layer to change out of after you finish smoking

I only smoke when my daughter is in bed

I would just wear a specific sweater and sweat pants along with a hair wrap while you're smoking. And stay in a well ventilated area, of course. Change after (but keep these clothes to smoke in, I would wash mine like once a week), wash your hands, and spray some body spray on yourself and in your hair. Easy peasy :):), and you'll smell good.!
