How to encourage baby to roll over?

Baby is 5.5 months old and has rolled over by himself only a few times (from back to tummy) but doesn’t really show any interest in practicing! He absolutely loves tummy time though and can stay quiet on his tummy for long. Any advice to encourage him to roll over by himself? Tried putting his fav toys around but he just stares and doesn’t move at all, very lazy I wonder if he gets it from me 😆😅

Does he enjoy a dummy? My only success recently has been using the dummy like a carrot on a stick as she’s just not as eager for toys as she is for it! Tho i did get a roll from making her jealous of me jingling her favourite toy just out of reach, try getting his attention with the toy first then moving it away as evil as it seems!

I kept practicing with my baby by moving her arms out forward and turning her over then letting her roll onto tummy by herself and Also try to shift their weight onto his arms by tucking them in when he’s in tummy time, they start doing pushups before rolling over both ways

You dont really need to encourage him. He might be working on another skill. Mine rolled a few times at 5 months then stopped. When she hit 6 months she started again, rolling every 2 seconds and me constantly flipping her as she cant get back from tummy to back again yet

Ive just been putting my LB on the floor regularly with a range of toys around him and little by little he is getting Soooo close to doing it!! X

Thanks all for sharing ❤️ @CeeCee wow that is very encouraging I guess you are right & I shouldn’t be too concerned.

My 5.5 month old hasn’t even rolled over yet, she rolls onto one of her sides and that’s it.. she is lazy though 😅

My LO wasn’t interested in tummy time or rolling at around 5.5 months so I bought a water mat. The first time she used it she started rolling front to back really well. We used it for about a week or two and everything she rolled. At 6 months she can roll both ways now so it was like she just needed that little extra help.
