Carobel dosage -Reflux

We just started it today for my 9 week old and my health visitor said to begin with just a very small amount (quarter of a scoop) then slowly increase till I find the right consistency for him. What's everyone else's experiences of finding the right dose? What should I look out for to say it's been too much? We're on Sma Alfimino milk

It’s so hard to get right either too thin or looks like wallpaper paste I’ve given up on it my twins were on it bunged one twin up and makes no difference to the other one doesn’t help her reflux at all

If it’s too much won’t do anything apart from they will work to hard to get it out the teat and fall asleep

My twins are 9 weeks old as well congratulations by the way x

May need to go up on teat size due to thickness of milk and some babies can get bound up, so be prepared with sterilised water only a 1oz or so if under 12months and maybe some prune pouches if over 6m x

Make sure you sit baby upright for I’d say min 20mins. That’s what really helped us also x

We tried carobel and alfamino and honestly had 4 days of absolute hell, we never managed to get the consistency right and it just completely blocked our teats. We went from size 0 up to a size 2 and found that even with a sprinkle it was a nightmare, it didn’t help that the alfamino is so grainy either. It went from pouring out to blocked within minutes and she’d just end up screaming in frustration, not sure what we were doing so wrong but we gave up in the end! The little we did get in her gave her constipation on top of everything else. Hope you get on better with it! X

I never got on with the carobel. Could never find the right consistency. Somedays I would do a scoop for 5oz and it would perfect and the next time bottle I done it for the same way it wouldn’t work at all. It gave my girl really bad constipation to the point she didn’t poo for 14 days and we ended up in hospital so I never used it again. You could try asking the doctors for gaviscon as that’s a thickener as well x
