Newborn reflux

My baby’s 6weeks and has been struggling with reflux, won’t stay flat at all have been struggling a lot just wants contact naps. Nights and days are very very long..He’s currently on kendamil comfort, combi fed and has been on infacol. He’s still struggling with all the symptoms. I’m not sure if I should give him gripe water or change the formula?

Hey mama My 6 week old has reflux too, doc at the hospital prescribed him omeprazole. Has been OK so far although only 2 days of using it but baby seems more relaxed now x

@Lemees glad your LO is feeling better! How long did you wait before visiting the docs? I don’t want to introduce further medication if I can avoid it naturally 😭 it’s so hard I don’t know what I’m supposed to do

Keep the baby up for 30 mins or more Same problem with mine Don’t worry the baby will get better over time

Thank you mama, yes he's doing much better now! Mines a bit of a story lol....on Thursday I went to the shops to buy infacol as he's been really gassy lately but whilst i was out I noticed his ribs were retracting and he looked like he was struggling to breathe so I went to a&e. After many tests turns out he is aneamic (he was 5 weeks prem). We spent 2 days in hospital for monitoring. It was then that the doc prescribed him omeprazole for his reflux! I didn't even make it to the shop to buy infacol that day lol x

Just to add, I noticed his vomit smelt sour from about 5 days ago so the reflux hasn't been long x

Same boat as you. Baby was 5 weeks premature and has been projectile vomtiing feeds for a while now. We’ve tried carobel to thicken up feeds and it was getting better but then stopped. We have now switched to anti reflux milk to try this first and if that doesn’t succeed then we will be trying omeperazole prescription by GP. I have noticed a change in the anti reflux milk today and we started it this morning. I don’t think Kendamil do an anti reflux milk so carabel could be a good option to thicken it up (have to play around with consistency). That’s usually the first step they would try before issuing medication but speak to your HV or GP and get some advice. Also sending love because it’s been so hard. Not to forget the amount of clothes we’ve all gone through lol. Best of luck! Also I’ve heard infacol makes it worse as it’s acidic so maybe try and avoid it x

Also as above, we keep him upright whilst feeding, burp between feeds and then hold him upright for 30 mins after a feed x

@Chloe kendamil do a comfort version as well which we are using atm. I’m not sure if I want to change formula brand but keep it comfort/anti colic milk x

Maybe try the carobel so you can keep to the same milk. The chemist sells it. You can just add small amounts so it’s not crazy thick but thick enough to keep down x
