Cervical Ectropion

Hey girls I’m 35 + 4 I’ve been told I have cervical ectropion. I’ve been in the hospital twice in the past week with bleeding. Please tell me that this doesn’t mean anything is wrong with baby or preterm labour? Or if anyone can relate? I feel like I’m really alone and hate that I’m bleeding all the time. I haven’t had sex or even touched my cervix! 😢

Hey! I have ectropian cervix and bled until 16 weeks. I know how distressing it is. Its basically just cells that bleed more easily on the outside of your cervix. I've had it for years ( pre pregnancy) and no one ever really explained what it was but if u Google image it i found being able to picture it really helped me. Its not related to pregnancy but hormones can make it worse. It won't harm your baby or impact your birth or anything at all. Feel free to messsge me if needed x

Hi, I used to be a smear taker, ectropians are very common. There's no risk at all. It's basically just where the cells of the uterus spill out over into the cervix. When I say different cells, imagine the cells of your face against the cells of your lips, they look different but its nothing to worry about. Ectropians are very common if you've been on long term hormonal contraception too x

I’ve been in hospital 4 times with bleeding since 24 weeks and have cervical ectropion so I get how you feel. The bleeds were never after anything that would have irritated it so each time it would scare me so much. Still to this day they have no idea why it happened but putting it down to hormone changes making it extra sensitive that day. Baby is growing perfectly and that’s all that matters so just trying to keep calm and rest more. If you ever need someone to talk to then I’m here! It’s scary bleeding when your not “supposed” to but a lot more women go through it than we think xx

I’ve just started bleeding again and I get cramps too. I know it’s all normal and very common but I hate that I just have to bleed it’s so weird to me 🥲 Thank you for all your comments though, I really appreciate it 💗

I also cramp when my ectropian bleeds just to reassure u. Be kind to yourself with some rest and treats. Its tough psychologically bleeding in pregnancy even if you've been reassured its ok. Take good care xxx

I have this and bled until 16 weeks!! It's scary but it doesn't impact baby at all

Also have cramps

I have cervical ectropion and I was so lost not knowing why I was bleeding during my second trimester! It’s definitely more common then we think ❤️

@Yasmin it’s hard not to worry when I get cramps too. I’m like is it labour or is it this 🙄 hopefully it goes when baby’s born xx

I got cramps alongside the bleeding too! I definitely understand your worry. And yes hopefully the hormones will balance itself out xx
