FET cycle timing

Do most people have a cycle start a few weeks after retrieval but then don’t do transfer until the following one since you might still be waiting on embryo results still? I think that’s what I’m gathering from what our clinic has told us but not totally sure. Or did any do an FET the cycle immediately after retrieval? And PS - how long were your cycles after retrieval? I heard it might get out of wack and trying to guess when our transfer will happen (estimating retrieval on 11/10) - thanks 🙏

We skipped a cycle after retrieval. Retrieval was on 10/8/2023, and FET was on 12/13/2023. We were waiting for our PGTA results, too. Skipping a cycle gave my body a little extra time to recuperate from retrieval.

I did my FET in the very next cycle. Retrieval was March 22, period came March 28, transfer April 15. I did not do genetic testing on my embryos, but froze embryos on days 5 and 6, so technically started my FET cycle before knowing my full outcome! I called to say hey my period has started, by the way, how many blasts were frozen? lol My period was completely normal length, flow, and timing - my clinic seemed to think most people would have their flow within a week of the retrieval and it was extremely common practice for them to do retrieval one month, FET the next, even for folks doing genetic testing. Also to add, I developed mild OHSS after my retrieval and still felt like I had plenty of time for my body and hormones to recup before the FET.

I had one period after my retrieval, then back on meds to control ovaries and hormone production in anticipation of FET. We were also waiting for PGTA. Retrieval on July 1. FET on Sept 18. Definitely took longer than I thought it was going to.

@Claire good to know I thought there would be time in between but maybe not so I’ll double check at my next appt to be sure!

Yes definitely Check! It is very common practice to do back to back months
