yeast infection

my son started getting a yeast infection in his diaper well over a month ago now and we were prescribed nystatin to heal the bumps and skin. it went away for a week and came back. we give him out of diaper time, use a barrier cream, change him regularly, bathe him regularly and started waking him at night to change his diaper. we got our second prescription for nystatin a week and a half ago and it went away for maybe 3/4 days and came back. i’m at a loss for what to do. i read they can be reoccurring and take several weeks to go away but idk what else to do for him. any tips or recommendations would help tremendously.

When my first had to use nystatin we put down the nystatin first and then added desatin (purple cap) on top and it seemed to help out and have it not be reoccurring.

Corn starch have you tried that

I also use it every day to prevent diaper rash it’s used in Mexican mom for there baby’s

Hope it helps. Let Me know if it helped him as well. My sister in law had horrible diapers rash and only that helped them after trying creams

@Flower do i just put it on the rash? diaper cream first?

@Chelsey that’s been or goto through the whole fiasco 🥲back to the doctor we go

It could be that it's not a yeast infection and could be something else. Have you been using any new products (soap, wipes, diapers)

Sorry late reply just the corn starch itself

Sometimes like Chelsey said is the wipes or diapers . Try to use unsented wipes I love the Costco brand best ones I’ve tried with all my 4 kids y also use there diapers as well . We use corn starch once a day every day with my 7 month old and Thank God no rashes

@Chelsey I agree with you

We had to completely stop using all diaper cream and switched to Vaseline. Game changer. We still use our prescription with a flare up maybe once a month.

I had the same problem. I changed diapers to Pampers pure and mixed nystain with a&d after bumps went away I did only a&d with every change. The nystain was for every other diaper change but a&d for every single diaper change. Added change was the wipes. Changed them to pampers sensitive. Now 2 years post and I never had to deal with those nonstop issues. One time it lasted nearly 6 weeks on and off.

@Enedelia our doctors have said to only use nystatin morning and night every day. we use pampers pure and fragrance free sensitive wipes. the issue is he sleeps on his belly at night since he learned to roll and the pee builds in the front of the diaper and it’s been close to impossible to keep him completely dry all night every night.

@Britt i’m gonna try the vaseline
