Christening shawl

So im getting both my kids christened. My son is 3 months old so i found a baby shawl blanket online however does my daughter aged 3 need one too? Or does a little white cardigan over her dress work? Im so confused as i know you usually get kids baptised when they’re babies so if anyone knows what i need then please help me:)
