Third trimester - hot tub

I know, I know you shouldn't full stop use hot tubs and I haven't but we are going away for my bday and have holiday lodge that comes with a hot tub. Id love to use it even for 10mins each day (there for three) I have 9 weeks to go until baby is here. I know it's more risky in the first trimester but wondered, what are the risks or if anyone has used one in the last few weeks. Info online has been hit and miss.

It’s not recommended to increase your body temperature (each provider has their own limits). You can manually turn down the temp on the hot tub from like 104 to 101 or so. Don’t go in the hot tub alone as you can easily get dizzy as the heat can make you feel different. I’d say 10 mins at a time should be okay if the temp is turned down. Or bring something to sit on so just your lower half (not belly) is submerged and you could stay longer. I’ve done that wrapped in a towel so I could enjoy the comfort.

A safe bath is between 98.6-100 so if you set the hottub to this temp you should be fine! The main issue is raising your internal temp too high but I would use my hottub often at 100 and still very enjoyable. I would make sure it looks clean too lol enjoy!!

Maybe just put your feet in and then next year book another holiday and fully enjoy!

I have been in and out of hot tubs this year (not always aware I was pregnant at the time) and never had a problem. It's just good to be aware that if you feel hot or dizzy, get out, and as said above, try to keep your top half out. I take a big glass of ice water with me as well. The other thing, is that the chlorine can mess up your pH balance, so, if you're sensitive to that sort of thing, maybe avoid?

@Emma Agreed. I personally did go in the hot tub with no problems just kept it short & lowered the temp a bit.

I went into a hot tub in the 3rd trimester. I lowered the temp and stayed in for approx 10 mins I didn't time it but waited until my gut told me it was time to get out.

I went to Japan when I was pregnant with my first and there they have hot tubs everywhere or Onsen they call them. I went in many as it’s traditional to do their and my Japanese friends thought the advice to not go in a hot bath was silly because Japanese people do it every day pregnant or not. Just obv watch the temp and how you’re feeling and get out when you feel hot.

Thanks ladies. Really appreciate your feedback and experience. I'm going to get in but be sensible, and listen to the body
