Weight gain

Hi. Could anyone tell me what is the normal weight gain for 1-year old? I could not find any recommendations on internet for normal weight gain for 12 months and up. My son is 24 pounds. But he has been 24 pounds for a while. He has not gained even 0.5LB for more than a month. I wonder if that is a norm.

Typically they are supposed to be 3x their birth weight but my son has been 21 lbs since he was like 6 months old and he’s perfectly healthy as long as he’s well nourished and meeting his milestones and his pediatrician isn’t concerned don’t stress

My son is 22 lbs 8 oz and is in the 70th percentile for weight, so I’m sure even though he hasn’t gained weight he’s still considered healthy since he’s in a higher percentile

i honestly don’t know but i’ve been super worried about my girl cause she hasn’t gained weight in a while either, her ped said that technically a healthy appetite is more important than weight gain at the moment. as long as there isn’t any major weight loss i guess i shouldn’t worry(?)🤷🏽

My girl is 13 mos and only 20lbs.

Look at the growth chart for your baby’s weight percentile because it’s different for everyone. My son is on the smaller side and the pediatrician showed us the growth curves and pointed out that small baby’s start to slow their gain at this age whereas larger babies continue to grow rapidly. You should be able to get the growth curves from your pediatrician, mine are all available on our son’s online portal.

Also, don’t get confused by percentiles. Being in a high percentile or a low percentile doesn’t indicate if the child is healthy or unhealthy. You just don’t want to see a drastic drop in percentiles. Every person is a different size.

My twins haven't gained more than a lb in the last few months but they eat everything and are super active so I don't worry about it. They're like 20ish and19ish lbs

Yes it’s normal, as long as he’s healthy I wouldn’t worry.
