Would you take this as a compliment or would you not care for it?

So I met my husband in highschool, and just now he commented on how what I was wearing reminded him of highschool, and he said "the only difference is you're prettier now". And immediately thought that he was saying I wasn't pretty back then. It was supposed to be a compliment but idk. If it had even just been " but you're even prettier now" that would have not been bad. How would you feel?

I guess it depends on his tone of voice and facial expression. Did he give you a kiss after? If he thought you weren't pretty back then then why would he have got with you in the first place. Probably he meant it in a I love you more and more way or you mature like fine wine

Super sweet compliment - like you're defying age. Imo

i would take it as a compliment. he said prettIER not just pretty

I look better now than I did even 5yrs ago my photos from then are cringy AF so if he said that to me I wouldn’t think anything of it because it’s true. That doesn’t mean you weren’t pretty then I mean maybe you weren’t, but compliments NOW is what I take. High school, we all look like plain Janes lol (well I did) we didn’t have the income for nice clothes and makeup and skincare like we do now, just all studying back then, shopping at Cotton on as a young adult 😂. They say women hit their prime in early-mid 30’s and men in late 30’s, early 40’s so 🙃

Tbqh i looked like shit in high school so I sincerely hope my husband would think I’m prettier now

Maybe he meant it like you just keep getting prettier every day type of deal

I'd take it as a compliment. I think most women get more beautiful with age. If they age naturally, that is. And just to say, I also met my husband in our high school years, and if he said u was prettier back then, I'd feel weird about it considering I was underaged. Like you prefer my 17 year old self? Maybe that's just me bc of prior experience w men lol but you catch my drift😅🤌🏼

I’m going to guess he thought you would take it as a compliment. Kind of how people will say “I’m more in love with you every day” or “you get prettier every day” like if you think too hard about it, it sounds bad but they really just mean you just get better and better

He’s saying you glowed up lol
