I told my landlord I was getting a cat. I did not tell him I ended up bringing home 2. 😅 Had them for 3 years now with no issue. I did need to pay a pet deposit though.
Yes absolutely. It’s not your property.
I have not gotten the kitten yet but I was surprised by how many people in my life when I bring up the conversation say that it’s not necessary to tell her since we already have a cat. To me, I would absolutely tell her.
I think it depends on your contract but most say to inform the landlord. So if you don't they can legally kick you out over it
For a cat I personally wouldn’t 🫠 unless it’s going To be an outdoor cat that’s going to be seen etc. I don’t care if my tenants have 2 cats or even one but if you tell me you have multiples it’s really just an opportunity for me to make more money off of you. Just don’t bring like serval cats to where it’s ridiculous 🫠 cats typically don’t cause any significant damage to units anyhow to even justify the amount charged to begin with imo but obviously the honorable thing to do would be to be honest 🫠 if you’re in a huge complex or are dealing with a large property management company them being aware of your additional cat will likely not occur
@Kylie I will re visit the agreement
My husband and I rented an apartment before we got our house. We had adopted an older cat and younger cat. Like huge age difference one was 7and half year old and one was 7months old. We told them about the first 2 cats. I talked my husband into getting a kitten and we got a Siamese kitten for the younger one to play with a couple months later I didn’t tell my landlords about. The 7 month old cat is rather quiet and skiddish and hid when mainatence came over and they never found out about the third cat.
@Donna I rent from a women and live in a three complex apartment so she actually lives on the left me in the middle and then the right tenants that have two cats. She is a little…anal. She asked me if the chalk my son used to draw outside was permanent on the driveway. She texted me once at 2 pm basically saying he was making too much noise when it was maybe 10 minutes of excitement, etc. so honestly I don’t know if I typically would tell her but for some reason I think I should. I feel like she hates me haha or maybe she’s like this with the other tenants. I wasn’t aware sidewalk chalk was something I should inquire about as it rains and is immediately gone from the driveway. I also paid rent two days early three months in a row and she reminded me it’s due the first but I have till the tenth, Then one month on the second of the month she texted me three times in two hours for rent. I feel I should probably tell her just based off her personality lol
If she lives on the property you most definitely should . Especially since cats can be seen through windows etc and even more so if she’s not a cool landlord. I understand wanting to know if the chalk is permanent and rental reminders typically go out automatically via a property management system but if she’s doing it via text on her own accord than yes this I think is a bit much.
@Donna I guess I was more shocked the big dinosaur he drew she debated it being permanent heheh thanks for the insight I will ask her and hope she says yes 🤞🤞🤞🤞
For me, my apartment complex have changed their pet policy. If we didn’t already notify them of how many or what pets we have, they can fine or terminate our lease. I would just be cautious but if they haven’t said anything then that’s a good thing(?).
