Are you feeling your baby all foods groups?

My LO is 6 months and I've been feeding him a variety of food. However I'm a little conflicted about allergens.I am vegan. Should I feed my baby things like fish, egg, milk? Obviously I do not want to. But we live in a meat eating world so would it be dangerous to avoid even just to test for reactions?

I personally would give egg, milk , etc at least once or twice just to check for allergies. Becos cross contamination does happen

It's up to you what you do, and I'm not telling you what you should do! But research has shown that the more they are exposed to the common allergens before a year old, the less likely they are to develop allergies. And it takes up to 3 exposures of each thing for the reaction to show. I'm not vegan. I joined this group to get some help with meatless recipes and how to still get the nutrients I need since I've developed a meat aversion. So I have given my baby all of the main allergens, except peanut, because I have a severe peanut allergy and I'm scared he'll react. But I plan to after Christmas! He'll be 1 February 3rd. Giving it to your baby would give them the option to choose what foods to eat when they are older, knowing what allergies they do or do not have. If that's a choice you want to allow.

I'm vegan, my son is mostly vegan. He has a sensitivity to cows milk we found out when he was a newborn. I'm lucky enough to have lots of vegan meat replacement options around, as long as the balance of nutrients is right there's no issue. He does occasionally have eggs at the insistence of my mother, but not very often. For us it works fine, he's a big strong healthy lad x

We are veggie, so have milk, eggs etc.. however we didn't give fish or anything. They've both eaten meat by accident - the cats food!!! Lol. But it's your choice.

I’m vegan and chose not to introduce them to those foods unfortunately my husbands grandparents felt they could do as they wished with my oldest and sneak him dairy back when he was 6 months old and we ended up in the ER for a bad allergic reaction. Since then we talked to our pedi and they told us we can get our kids tested at the dr for common allergies. The test will only consist of skin pricking on their backs.
