Not sure if my baby has cmpa

From 2 weeks old baby was bringing milk back up and just got worse and worse. At 3 weeks old got gavascon prescribed even thought doctor said it was viral and he would stop being sick in few days but gave us gavascon anyways šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø was still being sick and then started spitting it back out and wouldn’t take it. He’s breastfed and doctor told me to come up with creative ways for him to take it šŸ™ƒšŸ™ƒ he still wouldn’t called again and got omprozol at 4 weeks 1ml. Got told to call back when I weigh him again to up to dose and so at just under 5 weeks I got him weighed and they able to up it to 2ml. Still not working and being sick even more and had a rash that doctor told me was viral or baby acne. Health visitor came round 6weeks old and wasn’t happy how gp has been as he’s on the lowest percentile and can’t afford to lose any weight and she could see how much he was brining back up. I said I think it’s dairy as I had same issue as baby she agreed could be and contacted my gp. Then gp said he will hustle prescribe dairy free formula but I said it’s not that easy as he’s breastfed and I want to get to the root cause of the sickness. If he was below the percential of course I would change but he’s on the line still atm. Had to have a full argument with the gp just to ask for tests to be done to figure out if it’s allergy. And I had to suggest to the doctor cutting out dairy myself to see if it helps. His response was you can but you’re still going to end up on formula. Felt like I was being shamed for trying to still breastfeed. Now I just feel like a horrible mum and maybe I should just switch to formula he’s 7 weeks now. I’ve cut out dairy for 2 days so far. How soon did anyone see a difference once cutting out diary? I have noticed today his stomach seems less bloated. Sorry for the long post xx He weighs 7ibs 9oz at 7weeks was born at 5ibs 7oz

This was rash few days ago it did get worse but photo isn’t very clear and he still has the rash now

He seriously said he’s going to end up on formula? That’s horrific. Plenty of breastfeeding women go on to have very successful breastfeeding journeys after cutting dairy out of their diet! I don’t have an exact timeline because for some reason my son reacts to dairy but not my breast milk (I still consume dairy) but it can take up to 6 weeks for dairy to completely leave your system, but it really depends. I’ve read for some women they saw improvements in a few days, some just a few weeks.

Sounds like my experience! I cut dairy and soy out for a month, everything settled and I then had a slip up and it all came back. After this I demanded testing came back positive for allergies to dairy soy eggs and almonds. I’m 15 months into my breast feeding journey so if you want to breast feed and are willing to cut the allergens you can do it šŸ’ŖšŸ¼ be strong you’ve got this

I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. If you want to breastfeed go right ahead. It usually takes 2 weeks to get dairy out of your system and 4-6 weeks out of your LO. Some people seen results in 1-2 weeks. However, it usually gets worse before it gets better. I wish the best for you and your LO.

I’m not agreeing or disagreeing. However: the Gp won’t be able to tell you you can’t have dairy. So therefore offered the formula for this reason. However! My little girl was ebf for the first 3-4 weeks of her life before being advised anyways to put her onto formula due to weight lose. Although he said it in a horrible way it may just be to manage expectations. You may be able to smash this out and prove him wrong but also it’s okay if it doesn’t work too x
