If recently married in England and you're born in England please help me understand...

Is a "notice of marriage" and a "wedding licence" the same thing? If not and they're different, what's the difference, and do I need both?

Notice of marriage is given to the council to let them know you are getting married, they do all the checks that you are who you say you are etc A venue needs a wedding license in order to legally be married there You can have a ceremony somewhere without a license and then officially get married at a registry office x

@Bethany ah okay fab thank you, so just to clarify I'll be getting married at norwich castle, so the venue holds the licence and I don't need to do/ apply for anything to do with a licence to get married there?

No you just need to book the registrar under Norfolk county council/norwich They will then contact you when you are due to give notice and tell you what you need to fill in prior/bring on the day x

Not relevant but my sister got married at Norwich castle and it was fantastic. It went really smoothly x
