I gained 20 kg in pregnancy. I used to be very fit (always on diet and always going to gym as we have lots of obesity inheritances in the family) I frocked out when lost only 4 kg after my C-Section! Came home with a very big belly like a 7-months pregnant woman. I was very anxious. Because of breastfeeding, I couldn’t take any medication and I couldn’t start gym because of c-section and no childcare support. Fast forward- after 6 months I have lost 15 kg and I’m working on the last 5! So don’t worry, with a proper plan you can manage it. Firstly, if you are fully breastfeeding, you’d loose 500-700 calories only for that reason. I followed a healthy diet , having a good breakfast ( proper porridge or toast with avocado ) in the morning, then just fruits and nuts until 5 pm when I had a proper meal. I started walking regularly 4 weeks after giving birth. Tried to walk at least 1 hour per day at least 3/4 days a week. Even in cold weather, I made sure the baby is wearing enough.
Walking helped me a lot, both physically and mentally and baby enjoyed it a lot as well. He had colic and our walks in the day, was the only time we both were very happy and calm. And I could also listen to my inspiring podcasts. Don’t worry. But find a plan that works for you and be patient. It will go away. And breastfeeding in the most enjoyable weight loss program itself! 😅 All the best ❤️
It’s so soon since you’ve given birth I wouldn’t stress about it just yet, you need to just feed your baby and get through this first stage 😅 Walks defo help where you can and I’ve found that making extra tea on an evening to have for lunch the next day so it’s healthy still has helped me too, but just take your time and not too much pressure on yourself yet! xx
Please speak to your GP, for a bit of reassurance and referral to various support services. I don't think anyone recommends trying to diet/do anything else about weight so soon after giving birth. I was only medically cleared to resume gentle exercise more than two months after giving birth, while some women I know needed longer, plus were being told by health visitors to eat more, so as to not affect their milk supply. Please try not to stress about this now, and do speak to your GP!
