New to Canberra- need some advice

Hi everyone. I am relocating to Canberra and looking at North side. I’m not overly familiar with Canberra primary schools. If anyone has any advice on good schools I would be very appreciative. Thanks ☺️

Hey hun I love in Gunghalin would love to catch up sometime.

A lot of the schools in Canberra are actually pretty great :)

@Kate hi. Thanks so great to hear. Thankyou. 😊

Hi Joanna, I’m open to both. They are in private at the moment but that’s only due to the zoning restrictions where I live. I have Considered Gungahlin and Throsby school as I will live that side of town.

Hey Hun I am in Gunghlin Area if you would like to meet up ❤️

Hi Chantel! I’m in Harrison and although my littles aren’t in primary school yet, I’ve been looking at Mother Teresa Primary School for my daughter (starting PreK in 2026). Harrison Public School is a very large school and is apparently quite good now (from what I understand, there were some issues in the past because of the size of the school) and the principal and teaching teams are great. Throsby is a vey new school with lovely facilities but a relatively small student cohort so when I toured the school last year, they told me that all but their kindy classes are composite. I was also told they have an “inquiry-based pedagogical approach” which can be great for some kids and terrible for others who do better with more explicit teaching and “guard rails”. I hope this helps! Feel free to hit me up for a chat once you’re settled :)

@Natalie hi, thankyou so much for this. I really appreciate your input. We ended up being zoned to Harrison. They start next term so we will see. It seems like a good school. The size will definitely take some getting used to. Fingers crossed.
