Learn Spanish

Hola! I need help lol. For bilingual mommies how or where did/are learning Spanish? I'm trying to learn it along with my 11 month old since my husband and all his family come from Mexico and id love to be able to speak with his family and also speak Spanish to our kids while he's on deployments so they can be bilingual but I'm having a tough time trying to learn. 🫠 Please please please help. 🥺 I tried studying while i was pregnant and surprise my husband bc he was on deployment but I was so sick and in and out of hospital during pregnancy I couldn't study really. But I really want to get the hang of it and semi fast. I just need to learn to speak not write, but everywhere I try learning it's focused on writing not speaking. 😵‍💫

I’m sure you will get wonderful resources from other moms for apps to learn Spanish. My advice would be to compliment by watching movies/shows you’re familiar with, but change the language to Spanish with English subtitles (or Spanish subtitles work too). You could also have the Spanish channels on and watch those. Also, there are some great YouTube channels for Spanish immersion that are more geared towards kids, but can also be of help in your journey. •Telelingo •Aprende Peque Hope that helps! 🩵

Honestly, kid shows in Spanish with English subtitles. They’re shows geared towards children and language development so they talk slow & teach you words! Your kiddo will soak it up like a sponge and you’ll start catching on to things too. I also got my kids some Spanish read aloud flash cards & they love putting cards in & hearing the words & sharing the words with me.

I'm using an app called "preply" for Spanish tutors. I can speak Spanish already to get by but I want to speak it fluently so I found it to be most helpful. There are different prices on there for classes. I chose the $10 per hour one. Also on the app they can teach children but I'm trying to learn myself so I can teach my kids and not spend too much. I'm also reading a book in Spanish which was hard to find a good one that I could understand but its helping me to view correct grammar and practice pronunciation with saying the words out loud.

Have you tried Duo Lingo? Also listen all day every day to music, radio, TV, films to maximise your exposure. Shakira sings beautifully in Spanish ✨
