Visual memory

At this age my aunt would babysit my son when need be. Her house was about an 18 minute drive from ours. He would point and say “this way. That way” etc. He could literally get there himself by pure memory of what was outside. It actually used to freak me out 😂

@Brittany omg yes. My little boy is like this knows his way to the nursery, our house, his granny’s 🤣🤣🤣🤣 it’s actually amazing! X

Not sure it’s normal but my toddler knew where the park, shop, play group are from about 18 months. He would point where to go 😂 He still doesn’t recognise letters and most numbers at 2.5 though 😝😂

What kind of things does he remember that you’re thinking about?

@Gabrielle EVERYTHING. And I’m really not exaggerating. He remembers all his letters and which order they go in. He knows where places are that he’s been eg.. our house, nursery, granny’s, park etc. he knows all his numbers upto 12 and if I say a number he puts the correct number off fingers up. He can remember the first letter of words if we say a name of a thing eg “elephant” he has a whole collection of “my A book” up to Z and he will run and grab one and flick all the way to the back which has the full alphabet in and point to the correct one. He has a fishing game there is pictures of the different fishes but if there face down he still remembers exactly which one is which even if they have shuffled up and they are all different shapes etc. this is only a handful of things that I can think of at top of my head. HV said today she thinks he has a good visual memory. Just wanted to know if all those things were normal for his age. (Sorry for long comment) lol xx

Some adults have what people call a “photographic memory” which is my husband he remembers phone numbers and car number plates and pulls numbers out of his head like he’s a calculator (literally does big sums in 2secs) lol, he’ll see your car only once and 6m later he’ll be like “oh that’s so and so’s car” and I think my son is the same way yeah, takes after my husband. Learnt his numbers and letters quite young, quite easily and remembers moments and people really well. He talks in descriptive details.
