Our little girl had this with one eye after she was born and it went away after a few days but recently it came back. Called 111 to get a gp appointment and they gave me eye drops and it’s conjunctivitis and very common in newborns apparently especially after an instrumental delivery. It’s starting to clear up now
Yep my LO is 6 weeks today and it’s just one eye 🫣 I have been told twice by the GP it’s normal my eldest never had it 😕
Mine has that too!
My little boy is 17 days old and has this in one eye. We went to the GP and they took a swab to rule out infection but said it was most likely a blocked tear duct. We’ve been cleaning with water and have noticed it is worse after he cries. The doc said they should grow out of it by 1 year, which seems a very long time!!
My first born had this and it was conjunctivitis, now my newborn has it and we are hopefully seeing the GP today, it's usually because of the immature tearducts!
Go with your mother instincts I kept being told it was fine and the last doctor finally took a swab and it’s an infection and we’ve been given drops, if it doesn’t feel right keep pushing!
My baby had this too, we used breast milk on it. I worked a treat! Magic stuff! Xx
My daughter had this. It’s just seems to have resolved itself at 7 weeks
Mine has this too the gp and paediatrician both have said it’s absolutely normal as their tear ducts haven’t fully formed yet and only to get concerned if the eye is swollen or the white of his eye goes red x
Following as my 10 day old has this in one eye. I’ve asked about it 3 times and been told it’s normal for newborns to have a blocked tear duct… so we’ll see 😩
Mine had this but it went away after a couple weeks, I just kept cleaning them with cooled down boiled water morning, afternoon and night x
My son had this (born 2023), everyone kept telling me it’s really common for newborns to have sticky eyes so I just kept going along with it and bathing with sterile water and breast milk and then when he was like 4 months old, my mum said you really ought to get that checked out and it turned out he had an infection and needed eyedrops. I felt terrible for leaving it so long however the midwives and health visitors just kept saying that it was really common/normal! Go with your motherly instincts!
