Do you use gender specific terms of endearment (man, girl, bro, dude, guys, etc) on the opposite gender? Have you ever been corrected?

I do all the time! For me, they are gender neutral, even though they are very not gender neutral some of the times lol so far the only person that has corrected me is my toddler. I have said “girl guess what?” to my husband and was promptly told daddy is a boy. And I have said man to her and she will say “ no mommy I am a girl you need to say woman”

Totally left out my sisters-in-law thought my best friend was a man for almost a year because I exclusively referred to her as my bro 😂

I call both my daughter and son bro all the time to be funny 😂

I personally hate when I’m called bro, man, dude. But that’s literally only me.

In French we have an expression to say “I don’t care” that is if I translate literally is “I beat my balls with it” 🤣 I used to say it a lot and my youngest brother was always replying “but you don’t have balls you can’t !!” Then I felt pregnant with a boy and that was a joke as I had balls indeed by then 🤣🤣 Now I am more polite bc I have a baby and don’t want him to learn bad words 🤣

My spouse called me "baby" the other day and my 5 year old was quick to tell him that I'm not a baby, I'm mom 😂

I call EVERYONE dude, girl, bro, etc. the only time I got corrected was when someone was nonbinary and I did it out of habit and they yelled at me and called me sexist 🙃 I honestly didn’t mean to tho. Literally a habit

My SD did this tonight. My partner goes 'yes bro' to her, and she looked him dead in the face and said I'm not your bro, I'm your daughter daddy 😂

I use "guys", "bro" and "dude" to men and women and no one has ever cared

I call my friends dude, bruhhhh (not bro) woman, bitch, guys (as in plural you guys) yes. They all need context though. And they don’t get offended when used in the right context. Like my friend was at her SIL’s house for the weekend and I told her to msg me if she feels like jumping in her pool, I’ll join her. A couple hrs later I she sends me a snap in her bikini lying on the side of the pool I wrote “bitch you jumped in without me?!” Etc. lol. Bruhhh is when they’re venting about something. Woman! Is when we wanna get a point across lol or frustrated at her for something 😂

My daughter went to public school for one year and started calling me “Bruh”! Straight back to homeschool the next year.

I called my son dude at the pediatrician and my pediatrician corrected me for gendering my toddler 🤔 but yes, I'll call everyone dude or guys regardless 😂

@Grace I would have corrected them. I call my daughter “Ma’am” have since birth. I get a lot of strange looks but no one said anything about it. YOU are the parent. You have the right to call them whatever you want. My pediatrician better never step over that line

@Savy I call my daughter ma'am and madame too (I call my son sir on occasion as well). I felt awkward and taken aback, so I didn't say anything in the moment, but we have since moved so we no longer see that pediatrician

i use guys frequently not the others though
