Feeling frustrated

I had an induction booked today due to the baby's size and my mental health. We got to the hospital this afternoon, and after less than 1.5 hours I was sent home. They told me I was dilated enough to have my waters popped but couldn't do it due to space. They've said I'll get a call in the next couple of days but more than likely, it won't be today or tomorrow. Why do they book you in if they can't actually do anything? I know they say induction can take a few days but I've not actually needed anything as they can just go straight into popping waters. This is now affecting my mental health even more, and I'm just feeling so frustrated! How long did it take people to get a call to say there is room on delivery? I'm now feeling worried that because I'm home, I'll just be left, and those that go in for inductions now will be prioritised for a delivery room to get them off the wards.

I was in hospital 5 days until there was room on the delivery suite, it's ridiculous they offered us different hospitals (Bradford and Harrogate) though but we wanted St James's

You need to call up first thing in the morning and afternoon. Unfortunately, it's a bed space, and natural deliveries will always take priority unless severe enough. Same with scheduled c sections. They aren't going to put pressure on the ward if there is no space. As you may not be considered as urgent as others then they will do it in order priority. Not sure if your mental health is linked to size of baby but most of the time anything size related that is not connected to other health issues, then it's not considered urgent as someone who has diabetes, high blood pressure, pre eclampsia etc

The night before my induction I started labour came to hospital in the morning for my induction they told me I am 1 cm dilated and they won't induce me as it started natural, they didn't have a room so I went home by the evening I was in horrible pain came back they told me I was 3 cm dilated and 2 hours later 5 cm, and by 5 am I was 10cm so gave birth the day after my induction was booked. If you already started opening it might happen anytime now But maybe it's worth to say I was 2 days shy from 42 weeks

It all goes off a list of priority, the dr will review everyone due for induction and make a list of who goes first, then they will call them in 1 by 1 however this can take a few days as you have emergency’s coming in which automatically take priority. I would ring them up constantly and see where you are on the list, they can tell you how many people are in front of you so you then have an idea, also ring day unit or triage and ask them to give you a sweep, if your dilated enough for water popped you’ll definitely have a successful sweep, i had the balloon in, once it was taken out i was 3cm, they sent me home on another list to have my waters broke, told me it could be a couple days but the midwife did me a really good stretch and sweep first and then early morning i went into labour naturally!! I hope things move for you but these things go on list basis and as annoying as that is, unfortunately it’s just how it works xxx
