Toddler(20 months) and Blankie Affection

My daughter loves her blankie. She has had it from when she was 8 months old. She keeps chewing onto the blanket. We somehow managed to reduce it only to her nap and night sleep. Everytime I try to not give her the blankie she goes onto a full blown fit. She will not sleep without it. When she is awake, we tell her that blankie is for hugging and not to bite it. But when we put her down in the crib and say sleep and come out. She starts chewing on it. I understand that its her support item since she sleeps on her own from 9 months in her own room not planning to take it away completely but the blanket is tearing up pretty badly from washing once every 2 days and i desperately called for manufacturers in north america and canada just to say its out of production. I dont have a replacement and its falling apart. Im afraid she might ingest the tatters.

How long has she been biting it? My son started doing this to his around that age because his second molars were starting to come in, the chewing eventually stopped, but it never got to the point of tatters or holes. I've known many children who have loved their blankies to pieces, though... my own blankie ended up becoming thinner than paper, lol. I'm going to look up suggestions on Google real quick and come back to this.

Creative ideas for her blankie, though! Some parents found success with designing it into a pillow sheet so that it won't be as easy for the little ones to yank on. Another idea is to create an outfit for a stuffed animal or squishmallow so that it's taught against something (similar to that of a pillow case). Someone else braided a blankie into a loop so that it could be chewed without being so easily torn. A final suggestion, lol, check Facebook marketplace or something of that nature to see if there are any other identical blankies still in rotation, you might find one that's new even though they're no longer in production!! Hope you guys can find something that'll work, wishing you luck!! ^~^
