Still reacting to hypoallergenic formula

My almost 3 month old has started having immediate reactions when feeding (formula fed). Visited the doctor who suggested trying a different formula first, symptoms continued so we were prescribed hypoallergenic formula and are waiting to see an allergy specialist. The reactions have remained consistent, the flare up happens within minutes of starting a feed and subsides around 20 minutes later. I know hypoallergenic formula still has cows milk protein in it .. so it is possible to still react, but has anyone had anything similar? I am considering trying boiling my water in a different way and sterilising the bottles differently to see whether that makes any difference..

Hello, it could depend on the brand of formula as well. We noticed our son had a reaction to both similac and enfamil it didn’t matter which type we used. We had to switch to a European formula. We used kendamil goat and it really helped him.

Our daughter has a severe cows milk allergy. She still reacted to Nutramigen because it's still made with milk. We had to switch to Neocate, which is an amino acid based formula and it has made the worlds difference for her. She is so much better

My baby was switched from milk to milk that still had lactose in and she was still reacting, we went from aptamil pepti 1 to nutramigen and another one to neocate. She's thriving now

How long did you try each formula before switching? As her reaction is immediate I’m not sure a long wait between each switch is necessary ..

@Amberley We switched immediately after she kept having reactions to Nutramigen. Probably 2-3 days after. Her eyes were swollen and she had hives up and down her whole body. After 1 day on Neocate the hives and swelling went away

It takes about 2-6 weeks of using hypoallergenic formula for the old formula to clear our of they're system ur suppose to give it minimum of 2 weeks on hypoallergenic formula before u can say that it's not working. We were on aptamil pepti 1 and he never got better just kept getting worse by week 2 doctors put him on neocate which is dairy free n he is so much better now x
