screaming and she was visibly irritated. I stood in the reception and nobody acknowledged me for 10 minutes, despite countless members of staff walking past me and they didnāt even smile. Then when I left, to top it off. 3 young girls who worked there were vaping right by the exit - I donāt know why but this also was a red flag, but maybe I was just hyper sensitive by that point! Like I say, the older rooms looked brill, but I just couldnāt feel comfortable my 9 month old going - especially as an anxious mum. I have read a lot of satisfied reviews about the nursery though so it might be worth speaking to peopleās whose kids actually go there! X
So my little one went to the bromborough busy bees. People like it and recommend it and itās the right setting for a lot of children. Itās large and they have high numbers of children. Very secure. Personally for me, one of my biggest mum guilts is leaving him in that setting for so long. He went from 9 months to 3 years and I just thought that the behaviour from my child was because that is what he was like. Although the behaviour that was happening in nursery wasnāt necessarily happening at home. I took him out and put him into a school setting and the difference in my child is ridiculous. If you have a child that might need a little more help / reassurance then I wouldnāt bother. I will always regret putting him there. When I was called in to settle him or take him home the staff barely engaged in the children. I played better with them than they did. Everything is a tick box. At home time they are all penned into one area.
The day I decided to take him out of that setting was when I was told that the pre school room was going up to 50 children. The space is no bigger than the downstairs of my house which isnāt even big. I live in a 3 bed square new build. But that being said it gets a lot of recommendations and Iām in the minority.
I took my son out of there after I saw one of the staff swinging another boy up by his arm! As the little boy kept trying to get into the room from the garden and after a few nos out of frustration thatās what she did, they investigated it and said theyāve offered the staff additional training on handling children and so I asked if he could not be under her care, the very next day he was so he was out! We had seriously bad nappy rash where he was blistered and bleeding and couldnāt walk and it got to a point I had to force their own policy of change every 2 hours on them. Also every time I collected he was almost always on his own and when I asked why we were told he likes his own space. Weāre at brimstage now and although I will say theyāre a little more relaxed heās definitely more comfortable there and refuses to leave! Which is great compared to the last! But yep I would never recommend busy bees spital and they know that
I've just enrolled my little girl there š¤¦š¼āāļø so now I'm a little concerned! That and there is so much in the news about nursery staff mistreating children (like ragging them round) not sure what else to do now as I don't know if I'm going to be able to get a space anywhere else?! EDIT: sorry it's Spital one I've enrolled her to, but still worried š¤¦š¼āāļø
@Kirsty I know how you feel I kept saying the same to them of how I felt trapped but I ended up crying in work out of worry and one of the ladies knew someone in brimstage and I was lucky enough to get him a space for two weeks later and then this happened so we ended up loosing two weeks pay but so worth it. I mean I feel bad now looking back as sometimes in the baby room there would be 1 carer to 7/8 children which is illegal! But i know thereās not much they can do but in brimstage if they havenāt got enough staff they refuse to let you in until they can get staff from another location, and also it always floods around both but at brimstage they will relocate to another nursery on the Wirral so you donāt loose a day which is nice! I donāt know I probably had the worst experience at busy bees and hand on heart, I wish someone said to me then get him on another nurseries waiting list while you wait
@Kirsty because even if you donāt have a similar experience to me and you like it there then you can always say no to the other nursery, I spent a year in absolute fear having my son there and I wish I just made the leap on the first day to put him on another list, I just kept thinking I was being ridiculous but trust your own instincts xx
@Laura thank you Laura, I'll definitely get her down on some other lists too just in case! I did look at Brimstage too, but heard there was never any space and I'll be honest because of that I just didn't try lol! But I'll definitely reach out to a few nurseries!
@Kirsty yeahhh I mean even if itās 6 months itās keeping your options open, my son is going to preschool in September, Iām sure some spaces will open across a lot of nurseries around then! But Iām sure sheāll be fine just stay on their backs if they do the opposite of what youāve asked! š„°
Hey! So everyone will likely have different experiences and just to note Iām an extremely anxious person who h definitely doesnāt help! However I went to view Busy Bees Spita (assuming it is the same one) and I really didnāt get a good vibe of the younger years. Post 3 I thought looked wonderful, but my little girl would be starting at 9 months and the baby rooms left a really bad taste in my mouth. Every room I walked into every single child was simultaneously sobbing. In one room there was 11 children and 2 members of staff, in another I watched two babies ragging each others hair down the the ground and no one helped, in the same room I saw a little boy in the corner uncontrollably screaming (his face was luminous red) and for the entire time I stood there (approx 6 mins) not a single member of staff went over to comfort him⦠I couldnāt help imagine that was my girl and I got so upset. Then in the toddler room I seen one member of staff massage her temples while all the kids wereā¦
