If you aren’t sure though, you might be able to contact your dr to ask ?
You need to to hound the drs about this I had the same issues with both babies I had to write it down for them to understand - this is my rough working out! …. Penny has 12 bottles 120ml bottles with 4 scoops in a 24 hours day feeding every 3 hours as she is a new born. This is normal for newborns and recommended by the NHS/midwives. It is also common for new borns to feed more than this and on demand… ——————————————————————————— Break down: 4.4g per scoop 400g per tin There are 90 scoops per tin (400g divided by 4.4= 90.90scoops per tin ) 90 scoops per tin divided by 4 scoops per bottle = 22 bottles per tin Penny has 9 bottles (36 scoops) per 24 hour DAY = 1 tin lasts 3 days (9 bottles divided by 22 bottles per tin = 2.4) 9 bottles = 36 scoops per 24 hours
It’s an actual thing that most parents with prescription milk have an issue with! I remember the dr questioning me asking me if I was “wasting” it and questioning why my baby who was a newborn at the time was feeding more than what was told on the tin 😆😆😆 I managed to get I think it was 12 tins a month Get your boss mumma mode on and demand a larger script! Good luck xx
Same as everyone else has commented it’s a nightmare but you just have to do the workings out and say what you need and escalate to the practice manager if you need to. My little guy used to have 10 tins every 4 weeks ish x
When we were on a special formula I weighed out a scoops worth and just divided it by the total weight of the can to figure out the scoops and the Drs had to up his prescription because of it
I had a baby who struggled with feeding so there was constant trying with feeding but also constant waste too and they didn't account for that until I actually wrote it down on a note for the dr
Thanks everyone, i did contact the gp in the end, they prescribed 2 more tins, I explained i didn't have enough for the weekend, and she's given me 2 more. I'm going to have to ring on Monday/Tuesday and ask for more, this time I'll be asking for 12 or 13 tins to see us through the month. It's absolutely stupid, I get why they ration it when I'm seeing it sold on Facebook for 35 pound a tin but it's infuriating for us that have a genuine need. I really wish they would understand the struggle, I don't want my baby on this formula, we didn't ask for an allergy, yet we have to fight to feed our babies 😞
Can I just ask, do I need to be using mls like the tin says, because I've accidently been using oz with the mixing of the milks 🙈 obviously i will switch to ml if that is needed, my husband said they're the same, but I've just measured it and it's different 🙈
@Jazzy I always stuck with oz, the difference is marginal x
I’ve just been prescribed it for my LO, pretty sure 13 tins were on mine for the month and that’s for the full 7oz 5-6x a day. That would equate to 3 and a bit ish a week, but that’s for all of her feeds not just an oz. So if you are weaning her an oz at a time, two would be enough I imagine
