@Rachel Thankyou I’ll give this a try how often do I leave after the nurofen to give the calpol from what I read on the nurofen it’s six hours unless I’m completely getting it wrong x
@Shannon neurofen is ibuprofen and calpol is paracetamol so I thought it didn't matter how close together you give them? But I could be wrong?
@Georgina I’ve just had a google and it said to not alternate the two unless advised to do so, so I really don’t know 🤣🤦🏽♀️ think I’m stressing more because I’m also full of a cold so instead of feeling sorry for myself I’m feeling sorry for her 😅xx
I’ve got a lot of pharmacist friends - they say do Calpol then 2 hours nurofen ~ when my baby had a bad fever and got the shakes our GP said to give the 2 at once for faster action. I only did that then but will mix C&N every 2 hours now.
@Hayley thank you 🙏🏽 xx
Her temp has come down to 38.3 so slowly coming down x
So depending how bad it is - eg is your baby going to wake in the night and need paracetamol / ibuprofen Then you should only give nurofen every 8 hours for 24 period (if baby is 1year+) Mine isn’t yet 1 so we give the smaller dose every 6 hours & calpol every 6 hours (eg ibuprofen then Calpol 3 hours later, then 3 hours after Calpol - ibuprofen again) which means baby is getting medication every 3 hours without overdosing in a 24 hour period. Just be mindful if you alternate every 2 hours then nurofen is being administered every 4 hours (which is okay to leave 4 hours between doses minimum) but it means if giving the 1y + dose at 12 hours you can’t give anymore for another 12 hours. Hope this makes sense and also if you knew this I’m sorry not being patronising it’s just personally it’s confusing a box saying give every 6-8 hours but no more than 3 in a 24 hour period x
@Jen thank you for your help! And yes I’ve always been super confused about the whole every 6 hours but no more then 3 in 24h 😅 xx
Little one has a slight chest infection (went to out of hours gp tonight) so fingers crossed these antibiotics kick in soon! Always trust your gut if you think something isn’t quite right with your babies! And Thankyou all for you advice it was much appreciated xx
😘
Should I be giving 2.5ml of nurofen or 5ml because it says up to 12months 2.5ml and from 1 year 5ml so I’m confused now 🙃🤦🏽♀️
@Shannon if shes 1 - 5ml ♥️
@Jen thank you I’ve been giving 2.5ml still 🤣🤦🏽♀️ it wasn’t until I looked I questioned it xx
Hope she’s doing better now xx
