Yes they’re a game changer, but I think the midwives don’t like them because of the water temperature and you have to make sure you clean them properly. Only think is you can’t make less than a 4oz bottle x
If you’re formula feeding they are a must. I used one throughout with my first and so did my sisters (as I inherited theirs). They’re not recommended as they don’t use completely boiled water but if you stay on top of replacing the filters and sterilising the machine then I don’t see why there’d be any issues. They save a lot of time, stress, and screaming! Anything for an easier life in this game is worth it!
As above so much easier for a night feed! I used to bring mine upstairs and use it on a night and first thing on a morning x
Thanks all, I might wait until he’s a little older because he’s only having 60ml of formula and I don’t think it carters to that does it?
@Katie nope as far as I know they don’t do any less than 4oz x
@Nicola ok thanks, I will wait until he’s older and having more formula 😊
There was some research done on the perfect prep machines and it turns out that the hotshot isn't hot enough to kill the bacteria in the formula. I wouldn't risk it especially with a preemie. I have some little 100ml bottles with the measurements on the side. For a 5oz/150ml bottle I cool 100mls and keep it in the fridge. When making a bottle I measure 50mls boiling water add to the formula give it a good mix and then add the 100ml cooled boiled water out the fridge and its perfect temperature every time. You should always use at least 10mls hot water per 1 scoop. I find this method alot easier than doing full boiling water then cooling it down.
We use the nuby, we have the flask and the cool, saves me getting out of bed haha
