I’m still pinning him down 😱 however he has lately started to enjoy Bluey’s teeth brushing. I do it with him. He’s not brushing his teeth perfectly or anything but it’s a start. https://youtu.be/gOR2U4xaGBY?feature=shared
I just let her hold, look, taste it. If she sees me doing mine I’ll always offer her and she’ll do with me. She always does in the bath, which she’ll ask for. I don’t put any pressure on her she a baby those teeth will fall out. It’s just healthy habits for now. The other day she did have some food on teeth though which I wanted to get off, so I quickly said ‘mummy help you’ held her face and she let me for 10seconds haha.
We put on a toothbrushing YouTube clip which she gets excited for and she chews it, we have an electric one too. Sometimes she lets us in for a little brush. Dentist said her teeth a lovely and this is absolutely fine for now. We tried everything else this works for us
I let my boy hold his toothbrush as he has always loved holding something and putting stuff in his mouth. He chews the brush really but does kind of copy off me. I've always made it a thing when we go upstairs before bed, and we brush together. Every time it's nap or bedtime, once he's at the top of the stairs he goes straight to the bathroom ha. I also made it a thing to brush his teddies teeth even before he could do it himself. Hope that helps, let him free if he can walk rather than holding him, mine does that, just hangs around outside the bathroom so he can get his teddies teeth brushed too. X
@Jemma we do the same. My girl likes mimicking what we are doing
i gave up
We bought a book about brushing our teeth, a new toothbrush and reset. It made a huge difference for us. Now he wants to read this book all the time and he is totally calm while we brush his teeth. He even asked for it once because he saw the book! This is the one we bought https://usborne.com/gb/very-first-questions-and-answers-why-should-i-brush-my-teeth-9781474968935#:~:text=Why%20don't%20animals%20have,do%20baby%20teeth%20fall%20out%3F Good luck! It’s very tricky!
My little one only has 4 teeth but we let her play with her toothbrush from a younger age and chews on it and lets us brush at the moment, I’m sure she will start fighting us soon! But, it’s a non-negotiable and I’d rather deal with the tantrum than deal with dental surgery down the line 😭
We brush our teeth together - she gets to have a go herself while I brush mine and then I get her to ‘brush mine’ and then I brush hers - I’ve always tried to keep it a fun experience and make funny noises while I brush my teeth which she now tries to mimic too x
I used to have to pry my LOs mouth open with lots of tears. I then tried brushing together. So I'd brush my teeth at the same time and she wanted to copy. I then manage to brush a little while the toothbrush is in her mouth.
