Young babies mainly wear a vest and sleep suit or rompers if itâs hot, can buy leggings to go with the vests but itâs really up to you - keep it simple so theyâre comfy and theyâre not in it for long! Also newborns are often colder than you think, so get some cardigans or something!
You wonât know the temperature in the UK but Iâd say make sure you have long sleeve vests, short sleeves, sleep suits and baby blanket / swaddle etc. once you now size of baby you can just buy some multi packs. You layer babies up depending on room temperature overnight. I found it useful to have a shusher with digital thermometer on. Remember no hats for bed sleeping. You have them in hats in hospital but they donât tell you no hats in bed when you leave.
My second baby (girl) is due this June, and I had my first (son) two years ago in July. I bought all these random cute outfits but the reality was that he just lived in vests and sleepsuits đ he had reflux and I found myself changing his clothes several times a day! So whatever was easiest! This time with my girl I am going to have a mixture of vests, sleepsuits, and a handful of leggings and cardigans. When theyâre that small you can definitely get away with them wearing sleepsuits out and about. I didnât put my son in proper outfits until he was at least 3 months x
I was always told that if your at a comfortable temperature add one more layer to baby. If that makes sense? Wasnât sure how to word it aha x
Thanks guys! I didn't think about possibly needing cardigans :) I don't know why I've got this delusional idea that it's going to be beautiful, hot weather in England. Most likely there will be a chill on days đ
We have a mixture of clothes my 20 month old was born in July and it was surprisingly cold some days x
Download the app âbaby weatherâ itâll tell you what baby should be wearing based on the temp in your location :) I used it for my first September baby! As it was a bloody hot September and I had no idea! To be honest, I still have no idea đ¤ˇđźââď¸ so Iâll be using the app again lol xx
@Lucy awesome! Will download that now, thank you âşď¸
Haha the clothing always confused me, and still does, 7 months on! I never used to put a vest under my boys sleepsuit, but the amount of people that thought I was crazy - now I always do. One helpful tip - I didnât pack enough warm clothes for the hospital. Even though I had my baby in summer, they canât keep themselves warm when first born, so even though he was in a vest and long sleeve sleepsuit, the midwives had to gift me some knitted booties and a cardigan! Are you putting your baby in a sleeping bag? If so, on the label itâll tell you what to dress them in and what tog rating to use, according to the temperature of the room theyâre sleeping in x
