Little neck strength at 8 weeks

So I’m not sure if my first child (girl) was the unicorn child but at 8 weeks old she could lift her head up during tummy time and follow us with her eyes around the room. I know this because I’ve just looked back at videos with the dates on. My second child (boy) can not lift his head up at all yet when doing tummy time - he will try to lift it a tiny bit and then gives up and lays his head to the side along the floor. But now I’m wondering if this is ok or if I should be concerned and he should be able to have better control already? Please share your experiences with your 8 week olds 🙏🏼

My 1st was like yours, very quick to build muscle strength etc. My 2nd also a boy was the same as yours, wasn't lifting his head up for long used to prefer to lay his head on the floor to the side. He also used to absolutely hate tummy time, would cry alot until I eventually gave in and put him on his back. I wouldn't be concerned, just keep trying with the tummy time, all children develop in their own time ☺️

My little boy is 8 weeks and is not fully lifting his head on his own, when I do tummy time he usually falls asleep 😂 but when I hold him he will keep his head up. My hv said not to worry as long as he’s lifting his head up when I hold him. I guess all babies go at their own pace

My boy (second) is 8 weeks and the same. He’s a little better at holding it up if the tummy time is on me/my belly & chest but if on the floor he can lift it a bit and then it side to die but he prefers to just lie there with head to one side. Though his neck strength when holding him on my shoulder seems ok. My girl (first) loves tummy time and had amazing strength early on and was confidently rolling back to tummy from 9.5 weeks. No way my boy is even close to rolling! It’s hard not to compare when your first is your only experience but the range of normal is so large and typically boys also develop a little slower so I’m not worried yet. It was nice never worrying with my girl about milestones but need to remember all babies will develop in their own time. I’d only be concerned if we got to 3-4 months and he hadn’t made any progress. Also might get that water fish tummy time mat or something else to encourage him to push up more.
