kids these days

i brought my baby to the playground today & was shocked at the behavior of the kids who were there. i don’t recall acting the way they were when i was their age… there was a boy about 11 and then a boy maybe 12 together & then 2 younger girls about 8 maybe or they looked super small & then an older girl probably 12 & the way the boys were talking to them was astonishing. mocking their accents & calling them dumbasses… like you guys are 12 why are you being jerks for no reason. like the guys were just eating takkis on the bench & the girls went to play on the tunnel minding their own business. part of me wanted to say something bc WHAT but also they’re not my kids but damn, are kids just really this shitty to each other & i’m blind or dumb?!

You can always say something if you see someone bullying someone—even grownups!

I completely forgot that our local school was off for a holiday and tried to bring my little one to the park. These middle school aged boys were so aggressive towards one another and they were listening to the most vulgar rap music. It was so loud and I could hear it word for word. After a few minutes I just left and took my daughter to the library because I didn’t want her hearing that. I don’t get it

Middle school aged kids/pre-teens are figuring out the world and are known to be difficult. Kids have always been like that. There are and have always been mean nasty kids in every single generation. I would say something to the kids if I saw them being bullies but I’m a teacher so correcting behavior is something I’m used to.

yes of course it just seems to be getting worse with each generation… and younger. i work in special ed so i’m in a completely different realm sometimes i have to remind myself that gen ed kids act certain ways & it’s part of the age or whatever but some behavior i’ve seen has had me very shocked. not this specific incident but yeah @Dana 🦅♥️🤍💙

Yep boys were super mean to me too when I was around 3rd-6th grade. Calling me names and in high-school too it doesn't stop until like early-mid 20s
