Balloon induction

Has anyone got any positive/negative experience with the foley balloon induction at 38 weeks due to GD. (Previous c-section 2 year 5 months ago) aiming for a VBAC this time. Also if you could share your stories and how long it took and was the baby okay. Thank you

I had a failed balloon induction last Tuesday, not the balloons fault though. My body doesn’t like to dilate properly. I had it put in which was uncomfortable but manageable, cramps started straight away, thing seemed to be progressing and it was quite exciting. It fell out on its own which gave me so much hope it was working but when I was checked I was still only 1cm. They managed to break my waters and baby girl came very quickly after that. Just keep an open mind and stay positive and I believe it’ll all be okay for you!!

I had an induction 4 weeks ago today. Firstly, I had the pessery which after 24 hours i was only 1.5cm then i had the balloon, wasn't that uncomfortable having it in. After 24 hours, i was only 2cm but ARM remable(which meant they were able to break my waters) ... There was a long wait for a bed on the labour ward but once i was up there, Had my waters broken and then the hormone drip 4 hours later(due to a previous section they chose to leave me 4 hours rather than 2 so that it was less time on the drip) I was labouring quite quickly throughout the evening and night( they turned the drip off after approx 6 hours) and baby was born early that morning, he was born with now issues and I managed to have a successful VBAC (my first baby is 2 years old next week) x The midwives were constantly checking that my scar itself wasn't in pain and carefully looking out for any signs of a possibly uterine rupture x

I’m due to have one on Thursday! I have a sweep today so I’m hoping that works. I’ve seen a few videos about the balloon induction and honestly the waiting for room seems to be the most frustrating bit.

I had the balloon! Had it in for the 12 hours and got to 3cm in that time. I then had to wait another 12 hours or so for a room to become available on the delivery ward (this was probably the more agonising part as I just wanted to get on with things). Then once I was put on the drip, contractions came thick and fast and little man was born a few hours later. It was funny as the balloon was inserted on Sunday 13 April at 1.26pm and he was born on Tuesday 15 April at 1.26am. Exactly 36 hours later. Good luck! Oh also to add, my midwife said that from her experience the balloon is more successful with mums who have already had children. I'm not sure how widely true that is or if it's just with the women she has looked after.
