Trouble with Care.com?

I’ve been trying to find a nanny/babysitter on Care.com for when I have to return to work, but I have had a really hard time. I’ve gotten like 200+ applicants but most don’t seem to have read the job listing and even when I message with them to clarify what I’m looking for and schedule an interview, about half don’t show up. I started confirming the day before to check to see if the date/time still works and asking them politely to just please let us know if they are no longer interested in the position, and that hasn’t helped. It’s consuming a lot of time to vet through applicants and schedule video calls only to be stood up. On top of it, there’s some bug on Care.com where I can’t delete messages or search by sender, so there’s just an overwhelming amount to sift through and stay on top of. What am I doing wrong? Or is it just hard to find a good nanny/babysitter and I should toughen up and keep going?

Ugh I have had the same issue. I used to nanny a lot through care and now that I'm on the other end of things it seems way too hard to get consistency and solid applicants. I think they just rack up the $ from memberships and so so candidates at this point

I've been caring for children for 13 years, but I don't live where I'm needed, which sucks.

I struggled it took me a while but I did find someone! It just took months 😅.. I’ve talked with my therapist about this and I guess it’s overall a pain to use and I guess people hire people to use care cuz it is such a hassle… so you aren’t alone unfortunately

Keep going. I didn’t find a good sitter until my baby was 10 months old. I had two ok ones from urbansitter.com (and I’ve had decent experience overall there and I like the format of the platform) but the last two sitters were not consistent so I let them go. I switched to care.com and had one interview go no where. Tried again and found a match. All this after 10 months though lol. Try Urbansitter, if care.com isn’t giving what you need perhaps. All the best.

All the best candidates get regular jobs and swooped up pretty quickly so they go on a couple of interviews or even just the one that looks the most promising/pays most and is the best one for them, they go with that, and stop responding to the others. If you’re in a high demand area it’s even harder to find someone. Best thing to do is move quickly.
