My friend has always been attracted to black people whereas I have always been attracted to white. It’s not about race in a racial or weird way, it’s just who we naturally become drawn to in relationships.
@Amy Absolutely, it’s just a matter of attraction, no politics involved.
Girl, get on an app that has men/ women you prefer. If you want black men, there’s an app for that. You want white lesbians, there’s an app for that. How about big hairy gay men?? It’s 2025 and finding someone that matches your preferences is very very easy. You want white lesbians American farmer—you’ll find that. I think apps like bumble is great. Yah, it’s not filtered by race but…it’s because people in that app are not hyper focused on race. But if race is #1 to you (which is fine) go in an app that can 100% guarantee that the user are all white. Or whatever you’re into
@S. annalese none of the dating apps I have seen have an option for that. I am not interested in gay/lesbian dating apps.
I was just giving an example. Showing that there dating apps that specifically cater to people. You’re looking at mainstream dating apps. Use your smart phone and do some research. You can so use chatGPT to find some. I just used mine and type “Asian women looking for a white man” and it gave me 5 options. Obviously I don’t know your race but type in ____women looking first a ____man, and boom you’ll get a lot of app recommendations that offer this demographic if race is highly important to you. But I voted “no” in the poll.
If that’s your preference then sure I don’t really see a problem with it! I know many men/women who are mainly attracted to Asian women, or black men, etc. dating pools are all about preference anyways! 🖤
Hinge has this feature
@Lis | mommy of 3 what does it has to do with race?
@Isabelle unfortunately most dating apps don’t offer the option to filter automatically. But of course I do filter manually by swiping left or right.
@Cerys thank you, I will check it out!
Maybe a feature to filter out guys that have dogs lol
@Tiffany 😂 sometimes they do go overboard with posting dog pics actually
@S. annalese why do you seem so triggered by this?
I feel like swiping through isn’t really that difficult, idk if this should be a feature on the main dating apps. I think it should be more on the website or app to cater to whatever you’re looking for so it’s mutually understood instead of having a feature switched on or off to determine which races you’re being showed, that seems a bit weird and I’d want to know if the person I’m matching with is using that cuz I do think it actually does say something. At least with like farmers only or like an app for Hispanic singles or whatever it may be is forthcoming

If I were using apps I would want that feature. I have no interest in dating anyone but Black men so it’d be better for it to be streamlined. As autumn mentioned though it might be a nice option for people to see people have limited it to that so they can be mindful of people with race fetishes. There are apps for certain races but my friend said one of the black apps is mainly white people now who were looking got interracial relationships
Also with this specific topic I see people saying all the time “it’s just preference” but preferences don’t come from thin air, and your preferences can still stem from racism. Obviously sometimes it’s completely normal like if someone wants to date within their own race for reasons like wanting to preserve culture and avoid the emotional labor that often comes with interracial relationships but sometimes it’s just fricken weird and racist like a white dude who only wants to date Asian women or a black man who only wants to date white women because of a fetish.. It def says something if someone closes their dating pool to one specific race that’s not their own lmao
@Autumn it is not difficult to swipe but time consuming and also when you are swiping fast you risk to swipe a good profile by mistake. Also why would you want to know that? As you said they can still swipe manually and you’ll never know. In my case it would be the same race as I am so not a fetish (although I believe anyone should be able to choose any race for any reason). Preferences comes from finding a race sexually appealing and not another one. It doesn’t mean there is something wrong with either race. I also wouldn’t date men below a certain height, not because I hate them or anything, just because I don’t feel sexually attracted to them.
@Daija I absolutely agree… you can still swipe manually but it’s a waste of time and for no reason.
Id only want to know cuz i would be extremely turned off if it was a fetish thing so I’d just want to be queued in to it so I could ask about it, but def see your point, I agree with Daija that maybe it should be a feature but a feature you can see if someone has turned on😅
I haven’t used dating apps for years but I guess if you’re only allowed to swipe a certain amount of times then it makes sense to be able to filter race so you can just see your preferences
I’d like to filter by hobbies
@Daija I’m not….what made you get this emotion from my response. It’s weird that you’re reading into it more than incognito. But okay girlfriend.
That was an accidental post and ghost. I didn’t specify anything but there’s many apps directed towards specific race also some have the options to choose or did before it changed.
I voted no as my initial thought was that dating apps are filled with enough racism as is but upon reflection I can definitely see the benefit of such filters in protecting POC from that very same issue.
Hinge has that filter and I happily used it 😂 met my husband on there too.
@Daija she didn’t seem triggered to me. Just seemed like she was giving helpful information in my opinion.
Hinge has this feature....for me personally, I loved it purely because I know what I'm physically attracted too...this works both ways ofcourse in my experience given not everyone likes rangas....my childhood school trauma is proof of this.🤣🤣🤣
What is the point of needing to just swipe a bunch of profiles left when you could get better tailored suggestions (and it shouldn’t be difficult for the app to know the race)? I have seen dating apps publishing stats about their users including race, so this is an information they already have.
