So weird that a dr would recommend that. Absolutely no need for hungry baby formula. The only difference if there’s loads of extra ingredients that bags your baby up. I would up oz and feed on demand. I looked at your profile your babies only 6 weeks it can take babies 6 months for there tummy’s to adjust hence why we don’t give food till then. I know it’s hard but you have this.

It’s completely normal to cluster feed even formula babies especially in growth spurts. Those growth spurts can feel like they roll into 1 tbf they are 2/3 weeks, 6 weeks 8 and 12 weeks. Offer another ounce and see how they get on. My 4 week old is on 5 oz but sometimes wants only 3 to 4 oz at some bottles

How often does your baby feed? And how much do they drink? Hungrier baby food isn’t great and can cause bad constipation so really it should be used in extreme situations. At 6 weeks baba should be eating about 4-6 ounces every 2-3 hours xx Also it has more of an ingredient that babies find hard to digest called casein and that’s why it is MEANT to keep them fuller for longer (there is no evidence this is the case) but if your baby struggles with colic this will make it a million times worse and make baby really incomfortsble xx

@Joleigh sorry what do you mean by that ?

@Natala commenting so I can see peoples replies as id like some advice on hungry baby formula x

@Joleigh have you though on switching to it as well?

@Kathryn thank you I just don’t understand why the doctor would ask me to make the switch 😧

@Natala I have, I’ve had a tub of it in my house for a few weeks but I’ve been worried to sue it due to different opinions

@Natala I wouldn’t unless you absolutely need to xx babies find it so hard to digest dairy anyway xx I would give it a week and see how your babies routine for food changes xx mine is 7 weeks old and he eats 4-6 ounces for sure every 3 hour’s without fail. If you baba has the same routine I wouldn’t change. The only time I have changed my Abbie formula was when his colic was super bad and really I had to as I couldn’t see him so uncomfortable and hurting as it hurt his poor belly to digest while milk so had to go for a better milk formula xx

@Kathryn which formula you are using?

Just and update - I have contacted the Infant feeding team NHS and they told me to absolutely not give the hungry baby formula for all the reasons above

@Natala I’m glad you contacted someone xx I use SMA advanced as the formula is slightly more broken down… the thing is if your baby seems hungry but have colic they cry for food because it’s a comfort for them and want the comfort rather than the food so I did a bit of research and speaking to people and found using a formula with a broken down protein was much better for him xx
